The vast majority of the population of China is illiterate and starving to death. (Same problem in India.) China has a very competitive population. Only the top achievers make it to the big cities, where they get to live in seedy apartments that are on a par with America's homeless. And only the top achievers in Chinese big cities are able to emigrate to America. (Same as India.)
