Will toy guns work if you just want to scare people for self defence purposes ? [I Hate Guns]

🤔
Adstar · 56-60, M
Not if the other person has a real gun.. Drawing a toy gun on a person with a real gun will most likely see you shot down and the other person will be able to claim self defense..
BlueVeins · 22-25
If it's realistic and you chop of the orange tip, sure thing.
Virgo79 · 61-69, M
A toy gun would probably get you killed.
TexChik · F
It will likely just get you killed
MasterofNone · 26-30, M
@TexChik Yeah thankfully God is in my side as far as that is concerned. I always end up escaping situations where trouble would start some time later.

@MasterofNone having ptsd for a horrible abuse and rape as a child ... I have self defense issues . I have kick boxed for nearly 25 years and stay active in it . I also carry . While I’m not looking to get into trouble I train a lot on how to get out of it in one piece . Preferably without having to use my Glock . So far so good .
MasterofNone · 26-30, M
@TexChik I appreciate you for having taken action for your ptsd and becoming self capable in defending yourself. That takes much strength! 👏

Tac Toys Gel blasters are sold as toys yet they look real enough that people have been robbing petrol stations with them.
Ozuye502 · 36-40, M
If you feel the need to draw a fake gun you better be prepared for the real world results. Better carry a real one and not need it then need it and not have one.
My training has always taught me if your drawing a weapon it's not to intimate its for the use of deadly force. Unless it's less lethal pepper spray/oc spray.
God made man Samuel Colt made man equal.
How did I get involved with this group? I must have been trolling some post. But that is the dumbest idea I've heard.
2cool4school · 46-50, F
It’ll most likely end badly for you. You never want to use a toy gun to “scare” anyone as it’s often resulted in an unknown third party calling law enforcement and or even drawing a real weapon and using it in a manner that would result in harming or killing you. Brandishing a realistic looking weapon is not a good idea for any reason. You need to reevaluate your situation and use logic instead of making a decision that could likely get you killed.
If you hate guns then don’t even pick up a replica/toy gun etc. Leave that responsibility to people who have been trained to handle firearms.
RuyLopez · 56-60, M
That will likely get you killed. Why not buy a taser or pepper gel? Something that works.
🤣 You would probably drop that too!
MasterofNone · 26-30, M
@SweetNSassy LOL🤣 I would like to think I am not that clumsy
@MasterofNone just a rule of thumb I was taught, you don’t pull out any kind of gun unless your ready to take a shot. Take a class and be comfortable and confident in yourself and your shot before you go thinking about pulling out something like that.
MasterofNone · 26-30, M
@SweetNSassy That is as great of a rule of thumb. Clears my doubts. Love how these rules are made so simple in a sentence. I don't require a gun where I am. This was a question purely out of my imagination.
LucyFuhr · 56-60, F
That's one way to get shot when you could've just gotten robbed.
MasterofNone · 26-30, M
@LucyFuhr 😓
Adrift · 61-69, F
Nope!
Sometimes you have people crazy enough not to fear a real gun.
MasterofNone · 26-30, M
@Adrift true
JesseInTX · 51-55, M
Pull one of those on me and you’re most likely going to get shot
TurtlePink · 22-25, F
No lol if they already know it’s a toy gun
MasterofNone · 26-30, M
@TurtlePink Yeah I'm pretty sure that's true 🤣
justanothername · 51-55, M
Having no gun is the safest form of self defense.
2cool4school · 46-50, F
@justanothername not exactly but there is definitely something to be said about those who “live by the gun die by the gun”. However you also "never draw from the drop" unless you want to lose every time…
A gun is just a tool nothing more nothing less…

Nope not a good idea .... especially in the usa 🇺🇸
sunrisehawk · 61-69, M
Not a chance. Just think about your question. If you feel the need to defend yourself or someone else against imminent harm do you want to be helpless or bluffing? Or would you prefer to be equally or better armed than the one that is threatening you? You want to scare someone who has already chosen to prey upon you?
Sometimes, but why risk it?
NankerPhelge · 61-69, M
Try it and see.
MasterofNone · 26-30, M
@NankerPhelge I need to find a replica first.
NankerPhelge · 61-69, M
@MasterofNone Just do whatever you have to.

Pew...pew pew pew 👉
MasterofNone · 26-30, M
Only if it looks real

FreeSpirit1 · 51-55, F
No, toy guns have to look like toys by law. A replica may , but if you are going to draw a gun it should be a real one.
NankerPhelge · 61-69, M
@FreeSpirit1 Is there no law against threatening someone with a gun? I think there is.
FreeSpirit1 · 51-55, F
@NankerPhelge yes there is, but if you draw a toy gun on someone threatening you with bodily harm they will just laugh at you.
Cagrl1 · 31-35, F
Why do you hate guns? What did they ever do to you? Do you have any balls? Dumb question…
calicuz · 51-55, M
It only works if the criminal doesn't have a gun, otherwise, you're screwed.
Ingwe · F
some people get violent when they are in shock
you may get hurt
MasterofNone · 26-30, M
@Ingwe Right. But it is not a case of shock when you are doing it for self defense is it ?
malizz · 70-79, M
You may get your collar felt.
They work well enough that the police have shot folks carrying them.
