I Can't Understand Why People Like Guns

Recently my neighbors gun accidentally went off while he was driving with his 4 kids in the car. He died he was only about 36. Now his kids have no dad.
The gun wasn't worth it

Wait...you're saying he was driving in the car with his 4 children AND a loaded gun, which obviously was not secured, and somehow...it went off ACCIDENTLY? Given the nature of such a tragedy, I'm sure it was all over the news. Do you have a link to the story to provide more details?

So, then how did the gun go off?

sorry it was actually on the news http://www.nbc12.com/story/30349672/police-investigating-chesterfield-fathers-death-as-accidental-shooting they did reveal anything though

Very sad. However, this is a very carefully worded article that can be a bit misleading. Notice, the article does NOT say it was HIS gun that went off. It did not say even state whether he had his gun in the car with him at the time of the shooting. If it was his firearm that discharged, they would have said so. If one of the kids had gotten ahold of the weapon and fired it by accident, the article would have stated as such. Instead, the article states that he was a gun owner and had a concealed carry permit. One might draw the conclusion he was killed with his own weapon. However, in order to get a concealed carry permit, It requires extensive training and passing an exam. He would know better than to carry a loaded firearm, unsecured - particularly with small children in the car. I think the far more likely scenario is that someone else, outside of the car, fired a gun that killed him. Given that he was going fishing, I suspect it was a stray bullet from a hunter. Still very tragic and sad.

Not saying it was a murder. I believe it was an accident. The article said that the car rolled into the woods near a church after the shot was fired. How close is that to the neighborhood? Sounds rural. Police didn't release shooting details, but the neighbors know? Guy is taking his children fishing, and brings a loaded gun? Wow!

it's less than 2 minutes away and yeah it's a rural county but 10 minutes from the city
