What do we think of the canadian government paying Omar Khadr 10 million dollars for human rights volations?

Omar Khadr is a canadian and was a child soldier who killed an american soldier with a grenade during a firefight in Afghanistan. He was a minor but was still sent to Guantanamo where he was abused.
Now he's being awarded 10 million dollars. People are outraged. The widow of the soldier wants to make sure he gets none of that money.
They say he murdered that soldier and that he is a war criminal.

It seems to me that he killed an enemy combatant in a war zone. It seems to me that whatever he did his human rights were still violated in Guantanamo.

So do his critics have a leg to stand on?

I think the problem was that he was a canadian citizen and a minor who's only apparent crime was killing an enemy combatant.
so he left canada to go fight for a rebel outfit, against the coalition. killed a soldier and was taken prisoner. and now hes a victim of his own personal choices?..

seems legit 🙄

Actually he was taken there by his extremist father.
He killed an enemy. Soldiers tend to do that in war.
But of course that doesn't mean you get to torture and abuse prisoners of war.
war? so we are officially at war with whom? syria?
and the coalition isnt the enemy if they are there to help out the elected government.
not my problem he couldnt stand up to his 'extremist' father. piss weak excuse.
all the wrong choices, and was rewarded.. what a joke

Well the americans were occupying a foreign country with a military force. That country fought back. I don't know if that is officially declared a war or not but if not then it is a distinction without a difference.

The fact is that one soldier killed another. That is not murder. That is not a war crime.
But shall i assume that you are of the opinion that it's ok to torture and abuse your enemy?

@MetalGreymon: They weren't POWs. They are terrorists and should all be killed.

@MetalGreymon: The way I heard it from Muslims judging by how they act when their area is liberated from Muslim extremist scumbags... I don't get the impression that the country just banned together united to go fight a common enemy.
