@ZackMrGenXer: That is the CBO estimation on the first plan presented. The plan that passed today has not been rated by the CBO. And when it is it's not concrete. If you look at the CBO accuracy rate over the years they are wrong more than they're right. But I'm not defending repubs on this. I'm terrified they will give us something worse than obamacare. I hope I'm wrong but I'm mature enough to wait and see what is passed and then I'll decide if I've been screwed over. remember, this goes to the senate (who does not appear to be in any hurry to look at it) where they will rip it to shreds and put their stamp on it, then it goes into committee (which will be members of both houses) and then will be presented for a final vote IF it even gets that far. So, lets ignore all the posturing from both sides and wait and see what happens before we get all pissy about it. Patience my man, patience.
@ZackMrGenXer: You didn't have a clue what I was going to say. I knocked you for a loop and you don't know how to respond. You're afraid because you can't argue with what I said yet you don't trust me.
@katielass: There's a method to my madness. You're passionate about all things. I just wanted to find out what some of those things were. Lucky for me, you don't resort to calling people names to get your point across. Well, except for the stupid part, but I can handle that. Nice to meet you this way.;-)
@katielass: Maybe your best has yet to come, but I have no idea what the old you was like. In the little time, we've had to interact I like this side of you. Your husband, girlfriend or boyfriend must be the lucky one.
@ZackMrGenXer: Well, thank you. That's a very nice thing to say. I admit I am very passionate and I have had a mouth but I have stopped that for 2 reasons. One, I was told to stop it and two, you don't get your point across any better by belittling someone or name calling.
@katielass: The vote was today and it passed it the first hurdle. It puts a tax on the elderly which would put an Age Tax on us as we age, harming millions of American families with health insurance, forcing many to lose coverage or pay thousands of dollars more for health care. In addition, the bill now puts at risk the 25 million older adults with pre-existing conditions, such as cancer and diabetes, who would likely find health care unaffordable or unavailable to them. My sources are limited, but this one I feel is trusted.
@ZackMrGenXer: I had computer trouble after I started reading and had to shut down. I think I had too many things open. eye roll. anyway one thing in the article puzzled me. Let me see if I can find it without having to shut down again. Ok I'm not able to copy it but it says "older recipients would receive twice the subsidy as younger recipients but the subsidy wouldn't otherwise be tied to the price of the plan, making insurance unaffordable for many."
so what is this tax on the elderly you're talking about?
@katielass: I doubt anyone knows what that tax is since no one exactly knows what's in the bill. There has to be some truth to it since my sources seem close to this issue. No doubt everyone will get a better look at it as it makes it's way to the senate. I mean you have to trust someone to tell you what's going on. You trust someone as I trust someone. If I'm overreacting to this, I'll be the first person to tell YOU that I was wrong. Right now, people are saying that every senator that voted for the repeal won't have a job at the mid-term elections. You just make sure that we keep in touch in the event I have to come crying back to you.
@ZackMrGenXer: It doesn't matter who is right or wrong. I think we both want what works for the most people. Nothing is going to be perfect. I wish they had tried to fix obamacare but the repubs seemed hell bent on repealing and replacing. At least whatever was in this bill is not going to be the final law. The senate will rip it to pieces and maybe save the house repubs from themselves. don't worry about crying to me, if the final bill sucks we can both cry a river.
