Do criminals in any "gun free" nations still find ways of getting and using weapons?

This is a serious question as I have zero knowledge on the subject in other nations being I do not live there.

There have been numerous gun shootings related to terrorism. I'm referring in particular to the incident at a concert, I believe it was, several years ago. But I believe they are using trucks now because it is probably either harder to get the guns or easier for the authorities to find out you have them.
