How many of you folks who hate islam and muslims have ever had a muslim friend? Ever been to a mosque and talked to the people?

How many of you actually arrived at your hate by interacting with the people and not by buying in to what you read on the internet and the extremist groups you hear about on the news?

Just curious.

When Hizb ut-Tahrir walk down Main Street in Sydney calling for the end of the west and sharia law will dominate.. This has no place in my country..
But I'm not stupid enough to lump all Muslims into the hardline Islamist bag...

Good for you. Seems like a lot of people can't manage to make that distinction
@UnparalleledMonster: they only need look at Christianity and all the off shoot denominations.. Same thing. Not all Christians are nutcase baptists 😎✌️
MetalGreymon · 36-40, M
@theoneyouwerewarnedabout:

Totally agree. Imagine if you judged the majority of christians on the behavior of westbro or the nuts who go on shooting sprees in the name of god or the people who assault or kill men for being gay.

It seems silly
the problem is bombing the shit out of countries and moving herds of ppl around like cows..
MetalGreymon · 36-40, M
@theoneyouwerewarnedabout:

Yeah that doesn't help.
And then when (surprise) some of those displaced people turn out to be dickheads, suddenly all refugees are dangerous scum

@UnparalleledMonster: Name one "Christian" who has gone on a shooting spree in the name of god.
@katielass: dylan roof?
katielass · F
@UnparalleledMonster: Oh people can make that distinction. But the bad ones don't wear a sign telling you they're one of the bad ones. I've read enough of your shit to now what you're getting at. You have so much to learn.
MetalGreymon · 36-40, M
@katielass:

What am i getting at?
And you didn't answer the original question. Which i think is answer enough 😉
katielass · F
@UnparalleledMonster: We all know what your position is and it's shortsighted. And we all know that not all of them are bad. But the ones who are don't wear a sign letting you know. We should not be allowing them in to our country until they can be vetted, and even then some bad ones are gonna make it past the scrutiny. Hell, we've even had American born young me, some of whom are muslims, radicalized. You don't have to come from Syria but why invite MORE threats.

In answer to our original question, yes, I've worked with them before and they were quite nice. When I had a ruptured aneurysm my nurse was muslim and for two days she never left my side. She held my hand and comforted me because I was not expected to live. She made me feel everything would be ok. But do I know for a fact that if called upon to strap a bomb on and detonate it whether or not she would? Hell no. And neither did the workers who were slaughtered by the muslim couple who had just been given a shower. Do you think those poor people had a clue the people they welcomed and gave an effing shower to were going to kill them?
MetalGreymon · 36-40, M
@katielass:

Yeah, so your argument is that we should assume all muslims are dangerous until they can be proved harmless.

Keep em out of the country.
Maybe put them on a registry like Trump suggested!
Oh! And we should be able to identify them somehow, maybe some kind of arm band?

And you really don't see the problem with this fear mongering?
You talk about a nurse who was nothing but dedicated to you having the potential to blow you up and you don't recognize the danger here?

You call me short sighted.
Tell me: Where do you see that level of paranoia and fear leading? Do you think it will lead america to a good place? Do you think you can achieve peace and safety by teaching people to fear and hate a group of people?

The most upsetting part about this is that your ONLY personal experience with muslims was positive and yet here you are, trumpeting about how dangerous they can be.

You're disgusting.
You're what's wrong with the world.
I'm not saying that to insult you or to get the better of some internet argument.
I mean it.
It's upsetting that there are people like you who think fear and discrimination are what we need to be safe.
katielass · F
@UnparalleledMonster: I didn't say we should assume all muslims are bad until proven otherwise and my comments did not imply that. But it is true that we don't know which ones are bad. It's prudent to allow only those who have been vetted into our country. These refugees cannot be vetted because most have no functioning government in which to vet them. The rest are unreliable, or untrustworthy. Why would any sane person take such a chance when an alternative has been proposed that would not put innocent Americans in danger. I know the authorities and the corrupt media in Europe tried to hide what's been going on there but it's out. We're not even taking about just terrorism anymore. Let's learn from others mistakes and not be hell bent on making every one of them ourselves.
MetalGreymon · 36-40, M
@katielass:

Don't pretend here, katie.
I've read some of the crap you write.
Like how hate crimes against muslims are mostly hoaxes.
You just like to dress up your prejudice with useful excuses. You know it. I know it.
You don't get to "I had a nurse who was an angel, but i can't be sure she wouldn't blow me up", otherwise.
Americans in danger
Yeah, that's always how it starts.
"Our country is in danger!"
And so we start tumbling down the slippery slope.

lol and you call me short-sighted.

We're done here.
katielass · F
I see you assume everyone else is as disingenuous as you are. But really, don't project your shit on to me. I am what I am, I make no pretense, and I'm not ashamed of who I am. So fuck off. No one can have an intelligent conversation with you. But if you think that little fact will prevent me from expressing myself, think again. You'll have to block me. If you had an sense you would.
