@MartinII: Reagan was not the voice of sanity. Reagan is a huge part of why the United States is in so much debt and why college is so goddamn expensive and why over 1/3 of the American homeless are war veterans and mentally ill people.
@BlueMetalChick: Well Reagan was a great President, in my opinion. But that wasn't the main thing I meant by my comment. I was congratulating @Tommy Smith for talking specifics which people can understand, rather than using lazy and misleading labels.
@MartinII: Sure. Great president, who removed as many regulations as he could on economic practice to allow "corporations to police themselves." Wonder how THAT could go wrong? Great president, who intentionally raised the price of schooling as high as he possibly could, because he took example from the educated young protesting the Vietnam War and thought he didn't want that to happen again. Great president, who closed mental asylums all across the country and put disabled people homeless living on city streets. What a great president he was.
@BlueMetalChick: Please understand that I am not American. For me, Reagan is the President who won the Cold War, to the benefit of everyone in Europe, as well as America.
@BlueMetalChick: Well I'm sorry about that. But one shouldn't judge Presidents, or anyone else, solely according to the impact they may have on oneself. At least, that's my opinion.
@TommySmith: That wasn't my president, no. And in case you didn't notice, the president does far less than most people think he does. Especially since Bush Jr.

@BlueMetalChick: I didn't like Bush Jr. either. He started an unnecessary war and he was the second most fiscally irresponsible President we've ever had. Only Barack Obama was worse on fiscal matters.
