Should publicly exposing illegal activity be a criminal offence?

Without whistle-blowers (I refuse to use the term 'leaker') there would be a lot more corruption. Edward Snowden and Chelsea Manning have paid a tremendous price for doing the right thing. What Michael Flynn did was illegal as well as being a major conflict of interests. It deserved to be exposed.

It should not be a criminal offence.
It is what you say about Michael Flynn that I do not agree with. I do not think he did anything wrong and Trump should not have accepted his resignation.

By the way...I don't know if you forgot about Assange on purpose, but he belongs to the whistle-blowers group too 😉

These leakers (read: sore losers) just wanted to get any member of the new administration out of power. These are the men that we need to (and in the case of Snowden, already have) do some whistle blowing to correct the lies they spew.

‘The story that we have millions or hundreds of millions of dossiers on people is completely false.’

🤣

LOL. I think Assage is the medium buy which people whistleblow and that is my reason for his admission. The DNC hack did reveal corruption, if that is your point.

Snowden's leaks happened under the Obama administration so maybe he had motives other than hating Trump?

LOL. They have millions of millions. The amount of data that has been farmed from the internet is ridiculous. All of it done without a warrant too.

@Burnley123: You seem to be misunderstanding, so I'm just going to list some facts to help you along.

1. The only people who had access to Flynn's phone calls were Clapper and Brennan (pictured above).

2. The leaker(s), which must have been at least one of these two men, went straight to the (CIA funded) media instead of handling it internally.

3. Talking to Russia about sanctions isn't exactly some crazy, treasonous act when you put it into the context of Obama tossing out Russian sanctions in his last two months as liberally as he does bombs in Yemen.

4. Clapper is the one who said that quote I provided about the government not collecting data. He was shown to be lying mere months later by Snowden's leaks. Even though he is now a leaker himself, putting him in the same league as Snowden is laughable.

Conspiacy theory.

I also completely disagree with the bombing in Yemen. Its part of the pro-war international policies that both US parties have supporrted for a long time. Discussing lifting sactions with a foreign country prior to election shows conflict of interests, and quite possibly vested interests.

I completely agree and if it is him then he is a hypocrite of the highest order. Though with this he has exposed corruption.

Are you kidding me? So Jeff Bezos gets a $600M contract within months of purchasing the Washington Post, which has since released information from "anonymous CIA sources" countless times, and you think there's no foul play? I really hope you're not that naive.

@Invisible: Fair point. I did not know.
