The vote to keep guns out of mentally disturbed people just got shot down

Fake news. It is not legal anywhere in the US for a person on a terror watch list to purchase a gun. But let's play back the left's argument on terrorism. It's downright creepy.

1. Violating anyone's Supreme Court affirmed Second amendment right to own a gun is not who we are. It doesn't reflect our values.
2. You have a better chance of being hit by a runaway school bus than being shot by a gun toting terrorist.

If you people get your heads out of your ass and use the brain I presume you were born with, it will take a lot of exercise since it hasn't been used before, but eventually you too can think for yourself and stop parroting nonsense.

@katielass: Actually it is not fake and that is not true. That only becomes true if they actually get convicted. Unless you are suggesting the US punishes people from crimes they might commit.

1. Another person who invokes the second amendment and does not even understand it. The amendment itself specifically states it does not apply to just anyone. But the Supreme Court like other politicians like to pretend it is vague and that there are not stacks of documents clarifying it's purpose and intent so they can "interpret" it (read make shit up) for their own gains.

2. That is the only thing in your reply that is accurate.

And FYI not everything you don't like is "leftist".

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow: You actually think it's not illegal for someone on the terror watch list to buy a gun unless he's convicted of it? Pardon me while I laugh my fucking ass off at your utter stupidity.

@katielass: It is a WATCH list not a conviction list. If what you said was true the ACLU would have a field day and you would be spending billions of your tax dollars just on the lawsuits. And again you seem to suggest that the US gives out sentences without charge or conviction if that is true.

@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow: I suggest you educate yourself on who can and cannot purchase a gun legally. The aclu has already lost that one.

@katielass: I suggest you familiarize yourself with the basic concept of law in the US and most of the western world. You cannot hand out punishments to people based on suspicion without charge or trial. This goes back to 16th century England for bloody sake. There are several cases proven where some of these people just have the misfortune of sharing a name with a criminal.

@katielass: Look into it. The only difference if you buy a gun or a suspected terrorist buys a gun is if someone on the watch list buys one the FBI gets a notification..so essentially the FBI gets an email. But nothing prevents the sale.

I didn't say people are being punished without being charged and convicted. IDK, we may both be saying the same thing but in different ways. IDC really. The fact remains, no additional law that has ever been proposed would have prevented any incident or would prevent an incident that COULD occur. Reason being, criminals and terrorists don't give a rat's ass about the law. They can easily buy a gun off the street. The only people that would be inconvenienced at all are law abiding citizens. When the democrats start working on ways to get the already illegal guns out of the hands of those who are in gangs and/or killing each other on a daily basis in our inner cities, I'll believe they actually care. Until then, all they are trying to do is make it more difficult on law abiding people and not one bit harder on the criminals. And frankly, that adds up to bullshit.
