Was it all worth it, MAGATs?

Now that your movement has been relegated to the dustbin of history (and congratulations on lasting seven years longer than the Confederacy), are you proud of what you accomplished?

Was “owning the libs” worth turning Texas from scarlet red to navy blue?

Was your overt Islamophobia worth the historic wave that has left your movement bloodied, broken, and politically impotent?

Did disowning your families, disavowing your friends, and pledging allegiance to a known con man, grifter, felon, and abuser make you feel good about yourselves for a hot minute?

Did you ever actually listen to yourselves as you spewed ridiculous, unfounded allegations about public schools performing gender reassignment surgeries or forcing children to use litter boxes? Did it ever occur to you how profoundly stupid you sounded? That nobody believed this horseshit but you?

Was putting Party Over Country worth sentencing that very party to years of political irrelevance?

You thought it was hilarious when Pete Hegseth fired high-ranking military officials for being Black or female. Are you still laughing now that one of those very officials has flipped Nancy Mace’s deep-red congressional seat in the suddenly liberal bastion of South Carolina?

And what about Vivek Ramaswamy? You enthusiastically backed his vile, disgusting exploitation of survivors of childhood sexual abuse for political gain. Was that worth painting JD Vance’s home state deep blue?

You cheered when every last traitor who stormed the Capitol on January 6th received a presidential pardon. Now you’ve handed Congress two years to investigate the president, his family, his donors, and his cronies. Two years of subpoenas, testimony, and full political cavity searches into the malfeasance you spent a decade excusing.

Still cheering?

You claim you can read. Did you ever consider opening a fucking history book? Did you ever bother to learn how large-scale tariffs have historically devastated economies and working families? Was your economic illiteracy worth losing the last Republican Senate seat in New England?

And Kansas.

Was lying to yourselves about your movement’s imaginary successes worth losing a state that hadn’t elected a Democrat to the United States Senate since FDR’s historic wave of 1932?

The delicious irony? Tariffs helped fuel the political backlash that swept Roosevelt into office, too.

And here’s something else you might want to consider.

Every time you proudly donned that red hat of hatred, every time you defended the indefensible, every time you chose cruelty over decency and conspiracy over reality, you made the Republican road back to the White House that much more difficult.

It’s one thing to pour your resources into the Rust Belt and fight over a handful of Midwestern swing states.

It’s a hell of a lot different when you’re forced to spend precious time and money defending Texas and even Florida.

Your road to 270 electoral votes just took one hell of a blue detour.

So I’ll ask you again: Was it all worth it?

I sincerely hope it was. And I mean that.

Because right now, your movement has about as much life in it as a brick.

The MAGA era is over.

There’s a new sheriff in town, and it isn’t some billionaire grifter selling cheap merchandise and expensive lies. It’s the American electorate. Millions upon millions of Americans who finally decided they’d had enough of your bullshit.

From the East Coast to the West Coast. Across the Great Plains, the industrial Midwest, the Deep South, and the Southwest. In places you thought belonged to you by divine right.

Americans who disagreed about plenty of things found something they could agree on:

Enough.

Enough of the hatred. Enough of the cruelty. Enough of the corruption. Enough of the pathological lying. Enough of being told that patriotism requires worshipping one deeply flawed man instead of defending the country and Constitution he swore to serve.

You spent more than a decade mistaking intimidation for strength, ignorance for conviction, and cruelty for courage.

You confused volume with popularity. You confused loyalty with patriotism. And you confused the temporary possession of political power with the permanent surrender of the American people.

You were wrong.

Your decade of destruction is over.

And America, bruised and battered as she may be, has prevailed once again.

We beat your ancestors in 1865.

We vanquished your heroes in 1945.

And last night, it was your turn.

I got much more return on my $2000 donation to several candidates than Elon Musk for his $500,000,000.
You know they could elect another republican president in two years right? Someone like Vance?

@AdmiralPrune
You know the could elect another republican president into years right? Someone like Vance?

It won't be Vance. Not with that stinking orange albatross tied around his neck.
inked · 41-45, M
@AdmiralPrune ideally, vance gets elected w trump as vice, then he pulls a biden and installs trump as pres again
Waveney · M
@inked Good luck with that 😂
inked · 41-45, M
i mean yeah, its not over, and millions of illegals still are getting deported, woke is still under attack,
inked · 41-45, M
@Waveney because homan was in an interview and said "mr. obama gave me awards for the way i ran ice so i am doing it the same way i did for obama" lol
not to mention during obamas deportations abc, and cnn did ride alongs with ice while the raided workplaces and homes..
the media didnt tell you to be mad about it when obama did, they celebrated it. but the media is telling you to be against trump doing it... because its trump
Waveney · M
@inked Congratulations, you've discovered that Obama also deported people. Gold star.

But here's the bit you're struggling with: deportation numbers don't mean two administrations had identical immigration policies. Homan receiving an award under Obama doesn't prove otherwise; he was an ICE official, not the president, and even he acknowledged that Obama and Trump had different enforcement priorities. Obama shifted towards targeting serious criminals and recent border crossers, while Trump dramatically broadened enforcement and introduced zero-tolerance policies that led to family separations regardless of immigration status, and of course people dying.

And your ABC and CNN argument? Even if journalists did ride along with ICE (and there is no evidence they did this under Obama) that proves absolutely nothing about whether they endorsed the policies.

Try presenting an actual argument instead of shouting "BUT OBAMA!" every time someone criticises Trump. It's called whataboutism, and it's not the knockout you seem to think it is.
inked · 41-45, M
@Waveney you can still biew the ride alongs on youtube lol.. literlaay dozens 9f videos of it happening.
you dont see the pattern of the media telling you to be outraged when trump does something other peesidents, especially democrats have done? the werent telling you to be mad when your president did the exact same thing.. why not? you werent told to be enraged when obama dropped bombs without congressional approval, you werent told to bemad when biden changed the names of multiple landmarks, you werent told to be mad about a basketball court, but were told to be mad about a reflecting pool?

This is a bad take. I agree with your ethics but not the analysis.

Trump is diminished but the movement is still there. The Republican Party is radicalised and has hard right Conservative neocons as it's furthest left. Ron De Santis is a moderate. Ethno nationalist like Stephen Miller are in powerful positions and that agenda has a solid base of support.

It's a victory for 'progressive forces' and that is a good thing but the far right is still rising in the long run. They will make mistakes and suffer cyclical defeats. I also think that the Democrats won't make the most of this window.
Waveney · M
@Burnley123 it’s just to piss the MAGATs off. I’m not sure the Dems can keep it together enough to make the best use of it either. But here’s hoping.
trollslayer · 51-55, M
You forgot about the eating the dogs and cats.
Waveney · M
@trollslayer whoops
kodiac · 26-30, M
Now maash cult thinks they can do anything. The power of the veto for 2 more years
Waveney · M
@SunSetStrut yes they have, but while the Republicans had control of the House that wasn’t going to happen.

Now though..
SunSetStrut · 46-50
@MoveAlong I think even Jesus Christ himself is against trump by now.

@Waveney We can hope. Even if he were to face justice, he has enjoyed 80 years of being a criminal. Kind of sucks that someone can get away with stuff for a lifetime and not have to pay for it until d4mn near the end.
