Mississippi Woman Shoots and Kills One of Two Masked Men Who Broke Into Her Jackson Apartment at 2:30 A.M.
A woman shot and killed one of two masked men who broke into her apartment at the Park at Inverness Apartments around 2:30 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 8. The second man ran.
When detectives arrived at the complex on the 5800 block of Ridgewood Road, they found a man dead inside the apartment, as reported by WLBT.
According to the investigation WLBT described, two men wearing ski masks broke into the apartment. The resident, fearing for her life, fired. One round hit the suspect who had come inside. He died there. His partner fled.
The coroner took custody of the body. That afternoon, the dead suspect was identified as 15-year-old Kaden Young.
The resident was taken to police headquarters, interviewed, and released.
Police found the second suspect, 18-year-old Quintavion Myles, and arrested him the same day. He was booked into the city holding facility on murder and burglary charges. In court on Monday, Feb. 9, he received a $150,000 bond on the burglary charge and no bond on the murder charge.
Myles is the one charged in Young’s death, even though the shot that killed Young came from the resident. Many states allow a murder charge against anyone who takes part in a felony when someone dies during it, regardless of who fired.
