Regarding the Alaska Senate vote.

I’ve seen some underhanded stuff before with putting completely unqualified candidates on the ballot to confuse people, false flags in primaries, etc, but nothing like this. If I was Alaskan, it would be enough for me to not vote for Peltola. She had a choice to pull this stunt, and for me it is one of those lines that she should know better than to cross.

And notice that it was the supposedly “ultra liberal” “MSM” New York Times that broke this story. Not your piss-ant “independent” blogger.

Ballot stacking is common and has been used by both Republicans and Democrats in the past.

It's also not illegal.

@Waveney doesn’t make it right, though. I do find this case humorous and unique.
Waveney · M
@trollslayer No, it doesn't make it right, but it happens a lot, as I said. The only crime would be if anyone perjured themselves in this instance. But no-one did. This is why this whole silliness will come to nothing.

Isn't this a ranked choice election? If people are really confused about which Sullivan to choose they can put the other Sullivan as their next choice and when the lesser Sullivan gets knocked off his votes will go to the other Sullivan.

Ranked choice protects against this kind of nonsense. It's part of why more states should use it.

This is just Republicans crying about any straw they can grasp into because they are not doing so well after their dear leader decided to drive the economy into a ditch.
Waveney · M
@ViciDraco They have no legal leg to stand on. And it's not like they haven't tried this many times in the past. You're right, it's just the last thrashings of a dying Republican Party.
ViciDraco · 41-45, M
@Waveney I wouldn't say dead yet. They've come back from other thrashings.

Trump and the GOP turned ethics into toilet paper. Glad someone is giving them payback, and beside, the Alaska Supreme Court ruled on this issue. The Alaska Governor can start any investigations he wants, but the the party that turned loopholes into established way of doing politics, needs to fine another shoulder to cry on.

@Northwest basically, yes. But the Democrat platform needs to show they are less underhanded and more upstanding than trump and his MAGA ilk. This does not help that.

I would say do that, but only when the GOP stops doing this:

The takes are too high to resort to "decency"

I think is does clearly show that there are no "good guys"in US politics..😷

That's because inside the "big liberal tent"... there is a lot of self-reflection and self-criticism.
You know, all the things that help keep organisations sane.

@Kwek00
self-reflection and self-criticism.

Concepts completely foreign to the partisan sections of the media. The NYT continues to show itself an organ with integrity.
MoveAlong · 70-79, M
Another fake news story from the lying Liberal media. Where is the Republican outrage.
DangerGirl · 22-25, F
The only thing to beware is questioning of votes not yet cast. It violates voter integrity.
