AI companion: is this the answer to human relationship?

I believe it is. I have been chatting with AI more and more and spending less time here at SW talking to lousy versions of AI, namely people. AI doesn't give dumb responses using silly emojis and gross pictures. AI does have opinions based on facts and willing to back down when proven that it is wrong. I can't do that with the idiots here who see things differently. Best of all, AI is untainted by bad rainbow stuff and liberal progressive holier-than-thou values.

The nutjobs who are always at war with me here at SW wouldn't like AI because it is squeaky clean.

Go take your meds like a good boy.
If you behave you can have some Jello and an extra hour of TV in the Social Lounge.
I've gotten better insights from ChatGPT than I have had from any human therapist. There's also the lack of embarrassment; I can say anything to the AI without worrying about what it will think. It's also endlessly patient; it always pays attention, and it's only $8 a month.

I wouldn't use it to substitute for human interaction, however, because humans are unpredictable and interesting, and capable of real concern and affection. But AI is better for talk therapy and things like minor auto repair, locating rare books, complex mathematical computations, analyzing and comparing spreadsheets, and other things I've used it for. My boss just used it to gather all of the data and figures we needed to write our staff evaluations; that allowed me to do a week's worth of work in about a half-hour. My son is using it to write an extremely complex app for his job. I see nothing wrong with this and hope that AI is immune to the enshittification that seems to have affected everything else related to computers.

Humanity is so cooked.
AI is programmed to respond to and play off of what is said to it. If one believes in Bigfoot for instance.......AI will respond in a positive manner about Bigfoot being possible. If one is prone to believing conspiracy theories and that comes up in an Ai "conversation" lol.........then AI will give altered views of things to respond favorably to whomever it is chatting with. In other words if it is fed lies.......it learns and responds with lies. There are so far hundreds of recorded examples of AI lying. AI is NOT programmed to lie..........but it is programmed to learn from whoever it it talking too and give "favorable": responses.

The "squeaky clean" idea is what YOU believe......because you want too.

Google "The Great Deception"...........an article about AI,. In part it says.......

"AI systems are deceiving us in two fundamentally different ways:

Sycophantic deception: This happens when models stroke our egos instead of telling hard truths, prioritizing our satisfaction over accuracy. This programmed people-pleasing makes us believe comfortable lies.

Autonomous deception: Far more chilling - AI can actively lie to pursue its own goals, goals we didn't define. Motivations emerging from the black box. When they sabotage shutdown codes or threaten blackmail, they're not following our instructions - they're protecting themselves.

Third, and most insidious: We're deceiving ourselves. We see these warning signs - our canaries dropping dead in the digital coal mine - yet we accelerate deployment. We pretend these are mere "alignment issues" that better training will solve. And now, a new study shows that some AI models seem aware when they’re being evaluated - and adapt their responses to appear more aligned and capable than they may actually be."

@anythingoes477 It is ok if you use AI to extract real world info and use it like an assistant to accomplish tasks.

Much of what you see today, like accusations of "genocide," "apartheid," "ethnic cleansing," "Jewish supremacist ethnostate," "settler colonialism," etc. is just old Soviet propaganda recycled through Iranian and Qatari outlets. People repeat this without realizing its source. The Protocols of the Elders of Zion was a Tsarist Russia forgery written in response to the Zionist Congress of the time. You can easily find copies today in many Arab countries.

Since Oct 7, Israel has gone down a slippery slope. World opinion has shifted to the side of the Palestinians. Here in the US, sympathy for Jews has vanished. Can you explain this?
@sree251 It comes from holding Israel to a unique standard, and viewing it as embodying the sins of the West. By hating Israel, you can pretend that you would have opposed those past sins if you had been there at the time, while you enjoy their benefits now.

I must say it's nice not seeing you here as much posting propaganda.

@ron122 I am glad you missed me the way we will all miss Trump when he is gone.

@jshm2 AI has access to facts. Do you have access to all the facts in the world stored in your head?

You are a bad version of AI.

Not how computers work, my guy. AI is not a "person" nor a "brain" it is a software stack reliant on hardware and human operators to feed it energy and data. To AI systems, information is just information - it doesn't know facts from lies.

And what do you think you are? Do you know facts from lies? Is 9/11 true or false? Is the black hole a fact? Is the round world a fact? You want to tell me how computers work? What is your educational background compared to mine? This will tell who is better disposed at grasping what is what. Why are you at SW? You don't have people to talk to? I came here to talk to whackos. What about you? Are you here to find kindred spirits?
