Watching the Seahawks game. 2-minute to half warning, then a political ad, Trump is on the screen talking about how he defeated communism, passed the biggest tax cut, defeated Maduro, and then his triumphant face. Then the shocker: Paid for by the US government

I understand that differeent versions of the ad are airing all over. The White House is calling them Public Service Announcements (PSAa). Me; WTF?

That's a blatant political ad, paid for by taxpayers, and benefiting Trump. How fas will this end in SCOTUS hands?

The GOP understands that this is a slippery slope, right, Or are they hoping this is going to be the last elections?

Communism collapsed on its own. Make me wonder what other slimy tactics he's got up his sleeves.

The latest ad appears nearly identical to the majority of a video Trump posted on Truth Social in January 2024, during his third presidential campaign. The video on Truth Social has an additional six seconds that includes Trump’s campaign logo and a number to text, while “Paid for by the US Government” is seen across the screen at the end of the White House-funded ad.

He must have some special definition of "defeated".

Communism clearly has not collapsed, even though it did in Europe while Mr. Trump was still a mere property-speculator. He certainly did not criticise the hard-line Communism of the People's Republic of China last week, though there are diplomatic ways to do so.

I can't imagine many tax-payers being taken in the "paid for by the government" line, but to be fair the USA is not the only country to read or hear that distortion; Trump is not the only politician of any political flavour to use it.

@Northwest I agree they are not Marxist countries if Karl Marx wanted socialist countries to be democratic; but they do call themselves "Communist".

Vietnam might be nearer.

The Kims though are out on a limb. They even invented their own term, "Kimilism", to describe their peculiar North Korean dictatorship that combines hard-line Communist economic and political theory, with a dynastic rule akin to Ancient Roman or Early-Mediaeval monarchies without the ceremonial trappings.

@ArishMell Karl Marx explicitly called for the dictatorship of the proletariat as a transitional phase between capitalism and a classless communist society.

KJU wants people to think of him as a God. This kind of thinking transcends political theory.

Kim's desires are in the realms of psychology more than politics. Their is basically a personality cult.
