The fear of AI is a real concern both for the ruler and the ruled because it entails the total subordination of human variance to systemic order. For the ruler (i.e. Donald Trump), his power to rule is controlled by the Constitution without deviation. For the poor suckers like you and me, it will be like living in China.

somehow. That would be catastrophic for the world.

People with the most "Stuff" will win. We should not have everything tied up electronically.

I fear AI. Perhaps, fear is not the word. It has a negative connotation. As a tool that you can use, AI is like Clint Eastwood backing you up when you are caught in an alley by a bunch of armed thugs. AI is awesome and can take out the bad guys a lot faster than Clint. Robocop is AI.

Your worries are well-founded. Do you know that all our bank and investment accounts are digitized and managed by AI? I am sure the banks have back up systems for data storage. A power failure would knock out everything including the Cloud.

Quite right. I have a habit of keeping cash. Tens of thousands kept in different places the way a gun nut hide his weapons from the Feds in case they come for them.

Yes, I also keep a ton of cash on hand in case the banks go down. Enough to live a few years without ever obtaining another dollar.

I also have Gold and silver that is readily available. Oh yeah, and many different types
of guns.

Hell I even keep long term food storage and a couple hundred gallons of water. I live on a well
so if the power goes off, I lose water. I think everyone should stock long term food, it is insurance
against shortages.

But for lonely people it would be great. My mother would have used it I think.
