The BBC May Not Settle...that's the Law

[media=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B4mrhvPo7F8]

Summary:

The BBC Royal Charter does not allow it to give in.

Trump has already given in over his ridiculous $10bn claim for damages.

In the year that the Panorama programme was up on the internet, only a tiny number of people who had IP addresses in the States saw it. Trump has to show that those less than 250 swayed the entire election enough so that he...won?

The BBC is the first media company not to cave into him and he is already trying to save face by abusing his power to stop those close to him spilling the beans under oath before a hand-picked judge.

What more could possibly go wrong?

Well, they certainly behaved like slimy little sh!ts.

"Core Reasons for the Lawsuit

Deceptive Editing: Trump’s legal filing states that the documentary misleadingly combined his call to "walk down to the Capitol" with his later comment to "fight like hell" to frame him as encouraging violence.

The BBC’s Apology: The BBC later apologized, acknowledging the edit gave "the mistaken impression that President Trump had made a direct call for violent action". However, the broadcaster rejected Trump's demands for massive financial compensation, arguing the claim lacked legal merit.

Allegations of Interference: Trump's lawsuit alleges the broadcast was a deliberate attempt to influence the 2024 presidential election to his detriment."

I agree that the deception did NOT affect the election...but one does have to wonder what is their stake in the game of interference...of any sort...in an International election? WHO in the UK would profit from that?

@4meAndyou They didn't have a stake, that's the whole point. Because you didn't see the documentary, you didn't see all the times that Trump and his supporters were spoken to and gave their side of what was going on. I think we need to let the court case now work its way out, now that Trump has decided he doesn't want the money after all. Whether he made a direct call or not is still subject to judicial judgement, regardless of any editing. He's already given way on one point, let's see what happens next.

@FreddieUK I DID see that edited tape. Fox ran it over and over again, because it pissed them off so badly. It caused a LOT of trouble here. People actually believed that Trump was inciting a riot...and of course Pelosi and Schumer struck up the band and tootled THAT news all over the country...AND used the tape to back up what they were saying.

If you wish to believe that any of this was done with a kindly motive by the BBC...I beg to disagree.

@jshm2 The money means a lot to the British, but Trump has a fraudulent claim and is being called out on it by a public corporation not a private company that is beholden to him to survive. It is also prepared to prove that his other claims are not only false, they can be shown to be so.
