@Jm31xxx Exactly. You "heard" it's gone up. But it hasn't.

The trouble is that we in the UK fixate on sporadic horrific cases, thanks to our scabrously lying, vote-seeking politicians and timorous governments not daring to challenge crime untruths, while we have a hostile media bent on terrifying the living daylights out of everyone.

Mindfulness

I think it may have something to do with social media.
Crimes, real and perceived, are shared far and wide. Constant criticism of the police, rightly or wrongly, probably adds to the misconception thst crime figures are rising.
Add to that crime being politicised, and it's no wonder people think there's so much of it.
