WNBA Changes League Name To ?NBA

After failing to arrive at a definition of "woman", the WNBA has officially changed the name of the league to ?NBA.

League officials felt the change better represented the lack of clarity over what sort of "national basketball association" they might, in fact, be.

"We just don't know who exactly comprises this association of basketball-playing people," explained league President Cathy Englebert. "What sorts of humanoid creatures are on our teams? Thus far, we are stumped. Until we figure out who and what type of animal beings these are, we feel it is best to change the league name to reflect our current uncertainty."

According to officials present, the beginning character for the new league name had been narrowed down to the question mark or the shrug emoji. "It was a tough call deciding what best represented our thoughts when faced with determining what a woman is," said Englebert. "However, the shrug emoji looked either like a male or a female, which could send the wrong message. So, we settled on the question mark."

At publishing time, league officials had agreed to change the logo from the silhouette of a female basketball player to an androgynous blob.

At publishing time, it was learned further that Abdul El-Sayed is absolutely furious about the WNBA controversy. "Women have absolutely NO business playing basketball in those immodest, skimpy outfits! When I get into office, I will see to it that if I can't have women's basketball declared absolutely haram, then I will make sure that they can only play while wearing burqas!!!" he shouted, according to inside sources who spoke on condition of anonymity.
