Trump is living his American dream.

The Trump administration, acting for the American people, has obtained ownership interests of approximately 27 billion dollars in 30 companies since January of 2025. While President Trump and his defenders claim making these “investments” will benefit the American people, the truth is this policy will harm most Americans.

Government “investment” in private companies means government control. Trump's government is not the Chinese government that has lifted 900 million Chinese out of poverty.

Socialism with Chinese characteristics is the official ideology of the Communist Party of China (CPC). Socialism with Trump's characteristics is a strange beast that is coming to you if you don't kill it now.

Yep. The DEFINITION of socialism is government ownership of the means of production. That's EXACTLY what happens when the government buys stakes in businesses!!

Now it may or may not be profitable, it may or may not be good economic policy; I'm not weighing in on those questions. My point here is that government ownership of businesses, picking winners and losers, is SOCIALISM!!

@sree251 It started out that way. tRump's favorite billionaires, Musk & Thiel, have their doubts about democracy though. Thiel has stated "I no longer believe that freedom and democracy are compatible." So he wants to get rid of democracy.

That's what tRump's "SAVE" act is all about; disenfranchising the voters who object to tRumpism. That well we'll have the look & feel of democracy but voting will be severely restricted.

He trusted Obama; at least, in the beginning. I wonder why solid Americans like Warren Buffet and Charlie Munger stay clear of US politics. They probably believe that America is a boat that neither fools nor crooks can sink.

I just got off the phone. The social call was from a friend in Singapore. We have mutual Iranian acquaintances who partied with us while I was there. I asked my friend how were our Iranian friends coping with the Iran war. My friend said that they felt that they would be better off with the Israelis. I was appalled, and so was my friend. What is your take and how would you explain it? I guess Netanyahu wasn't wrong in getting Trump to join in the attack on the Iranian regime after all.

@sree251 My first thought is that these people he refers to are Expat Iranians. Possibly even ex supporters of the regime of the Shah. Having said that..Many Iranians would dearly love the middle ground, which seems to have been hollowed out in Iran much as it has in America. But the views of a few who left long ago and made a success in another culture are not a reliable barometer of public opinion..
I am sure the theocratic elite in Iran are a minority, being unwilling participants in this whole epic saga. Just as many Americans are also unwillingly led.. But "wotchagunnadoabahtit?😷
