Just three days later, Trump said that the Iranian negotiators "are 'begging' us to make a deal".
29 March
In response to a reporter's question on whether a deal will be finalised with Iran in a week, he said "I do see a deal in Iran, yeah".
8 April
After announcing a "double-sided ceasefire", Trump wrote on social media that the US is "very far along with a definitive Agreement concerning Longterm PEACE with Iran".
17 April
"I think we will get a deal in the next day or two," Trump said in an interview with Axios. On the same day, he told CBS News that Iran has "agreed to everything".
18 May
After delaying planned strikes on Iran, Trump said a deal was "very close", while acknowledging he had said the same thing many times before, insisting, "this is a little bit different".
24 May
Trump wrote on social media that "an agreement has been largely negotiated" between the US, Iran and various countries.
7 June
"We are very close to a final deal with Iran. It is going to be a good deal," Trump told Axios.
