Whatever one thinks of Lindsey Graham (and I have mixed views about him myself) he was a staunch believer in a strong national defense.
Graham also spared no quarter as to what he thought of Russian dictator Vladimir Putin.
He famously called for the assassination of Russian President Vladimir Putin after the escalation of the Ukraine conflict in February 2022.
During an appearance on Fox News, the senator cited historic examples of plots to kill famous political leaders, including Julius Caesar and Adolf Hitler. “Is there a Brutus in Russia? Is there a more successful Colonel Stauffenberg in the Russian military? The only way this … ends, my friend, is for somebody in Russia to take this guy out,” Graham said, referring to Putin.
During his trip to Kyiv the following year, the senator described the US military aid being sent to Ukraine as “the best money we’ve ever spent” because “the Russians are dying.”

I can't explain his very disappointing and disgusting 180 and embrace of Trump from the 2016 GOP primaries to Trump's nomination.
But Graham was one of Ukraine's strongest supporters in Congress - and that is a good political trait to have if you believe in freedom.
As a side note, I would say it would have been a GOOD thing had Claus von Stauffenberg succeeded. I'm not nearly as convinced as far as Brutus is concerned. The assassination of Julius Caesar brought about the end of whatever little democracy ancient Rome had. Caesar was no Sulla and the assassins likely reacted too hastily.
