@Mindfulness It looks as though the byelection may not happen. None of the other parties will stand against him and so if he's "elected" unopposed that means the scrutiny into his finances will continue, which is what he's trying to distract from.

I hope very much that his gamble backfires. But it's a pretty cynical act of distraction. Asking his constituents to judge him on scandals that have not been fully investigated and which he refuses to talk about publicly.
