Some of us are able to do this, at least part of the time. It can be difficult if someone you disagree with is being pretty obnoxious. But if you keep a level head and remain civil throughout the discussion, it can go a long way toward helping things from getting too overheated with the person you're having a disagreement with.
It involves issues that affect people's lives, so emotions are high and people take it all personally. I agree though. People need to calm down.

Yeah. That's why I usually refrain from discussing it with people who are passionate about their views, at least when I know they won't agree with me no matter what. It's a waste of time and energy when someone is simply going to continue viewing things their way and end the conversation by being a jerk

I don't hold grudges and I comment on posts made by people I've argued with, and I even heart comments of people I've argued with but some people can't let go.

I wish that were possible.😕

They say you should never discuss politics or religion with family.
In my experience i'd say that's probably true !
There did seem to be a real anti-Democrat thing on here leading up to the election.
Whether that was spammers or folk really polarized by it i don't know !

Politics and religion are 2 of the most sensitive subjects for reasons beyond me. Most gotta throw they're 2 cents in there and make a mountain out of a mole hill rather than just agreeing to disagree and move on with their lives.

It's difficult to discuss anything in this current "PC" state we are in. Nowadays, if you don't agree with someone you are considered a racist automatically.
Kaceekakes · 31-35, F
It isn't even about being PC, though. For some people, the idea of you believing in something different than them and daring to talk about it with them is enough to make them angry.

@Kaceekakes: Yup. Simply having a different belief or moral automatically equates to "hate"!? I just don't get it.
