Meet The Press

I'm going to risk walking on thin ice here again. Even before her recent interview where the president walked away I can't say that I like Kristen Welker. Is there anyone else who has a similar impression? I don't know her and can only go on what I see and feel.

Disliking a public figure or journalist like her is indeed a matter of personal opinion, and it is never "wrong" to feel a certain way about someone's professional performance, style, or perceived bias. Political and media figures naturally draw a wide range of polarizing reactions, and Welker is no exception.

I've heard that some viewers find her hosting style on Meet the Press to be too soft or struggle to control chaotic interviews, while others complain that her pursuit of "gotcha" questions or repeated inquiries can be overly aggressive.

Ultimately, media critique is indeed highly subjective. How one feels about her usually depends on what one values most in a news anchor, such as overall neutrality, the amount of aggression shown to hold officials accountable, or overall presentation style.

I do miss Tim Russert greatly though and his time hosting Meet The Press. He possessed that rare ability to ask tough, relentless questions without ever raising his voice or grandstanding. He treated guests with respect while fiercely pursuing the truth.

His relatable "everyman" charm and infectious enthusiasm for politics made complex topics accessible to everyone. This was perfectly captured on election nights when he simplified complex data using his dry-erase board and markers.

She never brought much to the show. I miss Ed Bradly, he could interview.

Agree, she's not much
Just the opposite. Welker exposed the charlatan like no one else has.

You didn't come away thinking the man she was interviewing lost his composure in the most amateurish way - by yelling and repeating his talking points seemingly endlessly? No wonder she was forced to press him in order to get him to stop lying.

All he has is bluster and guile. Of course his base - those he was really addressing - doubtless ate it all up.
@rinkydinkydoink Sure, but the one question doesn't make it a good show. You're alright. Just take care.

What should she have asked?

Nobody makes SIMULAR impressions, but some might make SIMILAR ones.
@RedBaron Not enough to wise up because you do know that that remark of yours was only meant for your pleasure. Think about that some more, or indeed try better next time. Try indeed answering the question that was on offer. You lack what Talleyrand called the gentleness of life.

@GeretJan

Welker should ask us both to quit evading... she scares me!
@rinkydinkydoink Oh, one more thing. There's history of early dementia in my family. Try linking that to what we discussed before.
@GeretJan

Now you've lost me. My turn to end this... *waving bye*
Only a leftist would want a free press, as it was called. Trump's doing fabulous! Walking out on the interview!, taking his menacing powers away from the public into Private where Israel will marry it on Monday.
That woman isn’t qualified to clean my toilets
