It’s not the richest country on earth. Only Americans believe that
sree251 · 41-45, M
@Jenny1234 It's hard to deny that America's economy, measured in USD, is the largest in the world. Also, American billionaires top the list of wealthiest people in the world. We can really make money, @Jenny1234?

It was the Orange one that gave a Covid rebate to ALL tax payers his first term. . He did the same thing through the IRS this term. Lots of regular people from all sides of the aisle were and are grateful.
Waveney · M
@AthrillatheHunt Deflection noted.

Nonetheless you are wrong. Trump didn’t give a Covid rebate to ALL taxpayers - not even close. Millions were ineligible due to income, dependency, or residency rules.

And he hasn’t sent a new universal IRS rebate in his current term either. You’re conflating Covid-era stimulus payments with unrelated IRS credits and refunds, then pretending everyone got them.

I call BS.
AthrillatheHunt · 51-55, M
@Waveney all contributors got a check . You sound angry you didn’t get one
Waveney · M
@AthrillatheHunt Moving the goalposts is cheating.

Eligibility was based on income, filing status, dependency status, and other criteria. Plenty of taxpayers received reduced payments or none at all.

The fact you’re now changing “all taxpayers” to “all contributors” suggests you know your original claim was BS.

Dick Cheney said "deficits don't matter.". Deficits don't matter when Republicans are in power. When the Ds are in office, suddenly deficits DO matter and are a matter of national security.

Wars and massive tax cuts for the wealthy and big business are quite expensive.
One observation in my time in business is that rich people or big business always claim to have no money. Lol

@JonLosAngeles66 what do you mean "of the network"
@Waveney read the comment thread. I wasn't talking about the POTUS
Waveney · M
@JonLosAngeles66 neither was I. The average network head will take home approximately $3 million before bonuses etc
"Weapons, not food, not homes, not shoes, not need, just feed the war cannibal animal."
At this point America does actually have a money problem..Have you seen the cost of running one of those Supercarriers? But so much of Americas industry is now actually imports, From Apple to Nike to Harley Davidson, that very little of the consumer spending actually stays in America. But thats not the real problem. That is the long term cost of degrading everything from Infrastructure, to public health and education.. The workforce of the next generation is being turned into an underclass, when they going be better fed, better housed and upskilled with education to make America competitive in the second half of this century. And it just isnt happening. But I suppose its OK. China and India will be able to handle the worlds needs.😷
sree251 · 41-45, M
@whowasthatmaskedman You have no idea how dire the situation portends for Americans. No one is minding the store. And yet, the Congressional hearings are impressive, much more eloquent than the goings on in the British House of Commons, and definitely better than the proceedings in Parliament of India or the free-for-all fisticuffs in physical brawls and scuffles in the Legislative Yuan of Taiwan.
@sree251 Trust me. I DO know how bad things COULD get. A full blown protracted civil war. With rebuilding taking until the next century to complete. But I am trusting that someone with common sense will emerge before then and prevent it. And that the world will see the sense of forgiving America for Trump and everything before and be gentle in its dealings with the debt. Remembering that it was Woodrow Wilson who urged leniency with Germany after WW1 to be over ruled by the French. And look how that worked out. If some sort of a cushioned landing is not negotiated (and it wont be under this administration). Millions are going to die in ways usually confined to poor developing (formerly called third world) countries. But If I say things like that, people will call me hysterical..😷

How can I "prove you wrong" when you have identified the biggest problem America has: Lack of compassion for the poor.

@Waveney All you have is deflection. You actually know nothing.
Waveney · M
@ron122 you can’t answer my question. You can’t prove me wrong 😊

redredred · M
Because “regular people” are expected to see to their own needs. The reason the government assists corporations is the corporations provide a valuable service for the government. Invisibly to most people the corporations collect taxes from all their customers. They do this by paying corporate taxes and then baking the cost of that taxation into price of their goods and services which customers pay when they buy.

Corporate taxes are ALWAYS paid by the customer, the companies simply pass the cost through to the customer.

@redredred
Tell me how many of uber rich pay 69% in taxes today.
redredred · M
@JSul3 no one, thank god. Tell me, by what moral principle would the government be entitled to 69% of anyone’s income? Whose efforts should only return 31 cents on the dollar?
Waveney · M
@redredred no one pays 69% of their total income, least of all the uber rich, who pay less than 1% of their total income
MethDozer · M
Conservatism is the art of just giving up and pretending there is nothing you can do to improve a bad situation
Waveney · M
@MethDozer I would say the Conservativism is the art of pretending there is nothing you can do to help those who earn less than $100,000 a year.
