He was an MEP but hardly ever showed up. Still took the wage, though.

I doubt he's been seen in his constituency during that time either. Reform UK support performance related pay for civil servants. It would be nice to lead by example.

@whowasthatmaskedman Do you not think the limited attention spans and unrealistic expectations of voters who seem to think you can pick and choose politics like groceries at a supermarket, inhibits the chances of knowledgeable, technically competent politicians who serve their communities rather than themselves and plan in terms of years rather than weeks?
Yes, Farage exploits this. But eventually people need to wake up and help themselves a bit. Not follow the doom cycle of perpetual outrage with no particular direction. We know what people don't want. Now give us a workable vision of what you do want and allow the poor buggers in charge to serve their full mandate before condemning them.

@SunshineGirl I do.. The Romans had the same problem, when emperors were in domestic political trouble with the people they declared "Bread and circuses". To placate the people. Which worked for a little while until the grain and flour ran out and there was no more. And that is where the economy trumps (see what I did there?) politics every time.😷

The hypocrisy never stops enraging.
