U.S. Naval Leadership Have Lost Their Minds!

Navy plans to use Ford-class aircraft carrier to power Naval Station Norfolk !!!

NORFOLK, Va., (WAVY) — The U.S. Navy is planning to use a Ford-class nuclear-powered aircraft carrier to help power Naval Station Norfolk, a Navy spokesperson told Nexstar’s WAVY.

The experiment is a way for the military to use another source of power. The Ford-class ships are, the newest in the Navy’s fleet. Engineers hope to harness the energy from ship to shore.

When a crisis erupts the first thing a President wants to know is, "Where are the carriers?"

The answer should not be, "Keeping the lights on in Norfolk, sir."

There's a LOT of power on those carriers!!

Two reactors will be installed on each Ford-class carrier, each one capable of producing 300 MW of electricity ...

... A larger power output is a major component to the integrated warfare system. Engineers took extra steps to ensure that integrating unforeseen technological advances onto a Gerald R. Ford-class aircraft carrier would be possible. The Navy expects the Gerald R. Ford class will be part of the fleet for 90 years, until the year 2105, which means that the class must successfully accept new technology over the decades.

@ElwoodBlues I vaguely remember this little fact. And don't know why I remember it now.

Dominion Energy is not gonna like the reduction in income
Because an aircraft carrier belongs in the nineteen seventies, keeping the world safe for democracy?

It's a training exercise. The Navy does this all around the world when there are power loses at their bases, sometimes to help out the locals after a hurricane, etc.

This is different. This plan isn't to care for people after a natural disaster. It is to supply regular power needs for a naval base.

@beckyromero for an extended period? That makes almost no sense at all. The know how is there - they've done it since almost the first nuclear carrier was launched. Yeah, something isn't being said.
A crisis? Under Demented Donnie?

Please say it’s only a hypothetical…

The sometimes stated policy - stopping Iran from developing or procuring nuclear weapons - is both a laudable and achievable goal.

But Trump neither cares about that or what Israel's policy is. If he did, he would have put together a plan in his first term in office.

This is all about distraction. Distraction from dropping poll numbers. Distraction from the upcoming mid-terms. Distraction from the Epstein files. He's already moving on to a new distraction: Cuba.

@beckyromero So who died and appointed USA as Lord of this planet that they get to decide who can or can not develop nuclear weapons given that only the USA has ever used such weapons in war? It is not laudable nor possible to prevent Iran from developing them except Iran itself has said repeatedly that it does not want them.

Iran itself has said repeatedly that it does not want them.

You mean like Adolf Hitler saying the Sudetenland was Germany's "last territorial demand in Europe"?

Of course they want nuclear weapons! Just as the Soviets wanted them because we had them. And the Chinese wanted them because the Soviets had them. And India wanted them because the Chinese had them. And Pakistan . . . . and on it goes.
