New Jersey House Democrat Candidate Once Worked For Front Group For Al-Qaida

Election season is when Americans learn about the work and life experiences of political candidates, for whom they worked, to whom they donated money, with whom they align.

And some surprises invariable surface, such as the one this year about a leading Democrat candidate for Congress from New Jersey who worked for a group later shut down because it was a front group for Al-Qaida.

That’s the Al-Qaida terrorist organization.

A report from PJMedia identifies the candidate as Adam Hamawy, a plastic surgeon and political candidate.

The report cites documentation from the Jewish Insider that Hamawy went to Bosnia in 1994 for the “Benevolence International Foundation,” and in 1996 was quoted in the Newark-Star Ledger about this travels.

Hamawy delivered pride for his time with the organization.

That group, however, in 2002 , was raided by Bosnian authorities after Benevolence International Foundation was identified as an Al-Qaida front.

“Osama bin Laden had a hand in helping establish the offices to provide financial support to his activities, according to the 9/11 Commission Report,” the report explained.

The publication also revealed that Hamawy had testified on behalf of the 1993 World Trade Center bomber, the “Blind Sheik” Omar Abdel-Rahman.

“Hamawy got into the witness stand to deny that he had heard Abdel-Rahman — his mentor at the time — threaten to assassinate the Egyptian president, as an FBI source testified.”

He later visited Abdel-Rahman’s home and served as a translator for the terrorist influencer.

Hamawy, during one interview, boasted of his work with Benevolence International Foundation, confirming, “We went out to hospitals around the area and in the mountains to check what supplies they needed and we tried to deliver them.”

The report explained the 2002 raid at Benevolence’s offices found weapons and documentation from terrorists.

Evidence shows, the report said, Benevolence planned to set up a base in Europe in order to fight Al-Qaida’s “true enemy,” the United States.

According to the New Jersey Monitor, Ramawy is one of a multitude of Democrats running in a primary for the state’s 12th congressional district.

Abdel Rahman, was convicted in 1995 of planning a bombing campaign intended to destroy the United Nations, and Hamawy’s connection makes him a “radical extremist,” according to one of his rivals, Plainfiled Mayor Adrian Mapp.

“The blind sheikh was not a marginal or misunderstood figure,” Mapp said. “He was a convicted terrorist, convicted of seditious conspiracy. He was connected to one of the darkest chapters in our nation’s history.”
