Do you have any controls over how they farm the land, or what else they might use it for?
@ArishMell they were left empty and unfull.
Hospice. There's that voting public where they plan only to die, hospice, now! Start a dying man's drip, fast drip to the end.

@Roundandroundwego Well, I certainly didn't help empty them. I've never used Amazon and don't intend to.
@ArishMell one individual at a time! And the great oligarchs together as a system! You're all good! No accountability for just the individual! It's all only just individuals, their firms and nothing else!

@sree251 by letting them buy the land now and a law in place then

@sree251 To Israel? In what way?
sree251 · 41-45, M
@ArishMell In the way of traditional America as a gun for hire.

WHY are you so rude? I largely supported your implied criticism of selling so much to China, but all you do is be rude.

Cool down, buddy. Vulnerability to psychological hurt is a human failing. Stay alert.

I don't know know why you use public chat-sites because you are so bitter about everything and everyone else.

Freedom of expression should not be suppressed if we value honest exchanges in conversation. I wish I had seen his messages before he deleted them.

@sree251 I was hurt rather than cross. He likes to regard anyone who disagrees with him as a liar or an idiot, so his exchanges are not very honest..

I was hurt rather than cross.

Getting hurt is a wonderful thing, in my opinion. It's a wake up call. Imagine you are a sniper, a highly trained marksman on watch for enemy snipers. When you got tagged by @Roundandroundwego, he caught you napping. In our imagined scenario, your head would have been blown off by him.

Getting hurt can only happen when you are not alert to the fact you are a psychological target for verbal abuse.

He likes to regard anyone who disagrees with him as a liar or an idiot, so his exchanges are not very honest..

We are not here to be honest; at least not to me. We are here to converse. We provide each other company for better or for worse. Isn't this better than talking to yourself?

Do Chinese owners actually use this land to produce food? Or has agricultural land just become another financial asset?
Nanoose · 70-79, M
@SunshineGirl They could use the land to grow bio fuels. Not sure what Trump is up to but I don't think it will make America great. And I'm sure Trump will profit from it. Cheers!

Foreign entities and individuals hold approximately 45.85 million acres of U.S. agricultural and forest land, representing roughly 3.6% of privately held agricultural land in the United States. Canadian investors own the largest share (over 33%), followed by the Netherlands, Italy, the U.K., and Germany. Chinese entities own less than 1% of foreign-held acreage. Chinese own land thru stakes in US companies engaged in following industries:

1. Agriculture and Food ProductionLivestock & Pork Processing: Over a third of Chinese-owned agricultural land in the U.S. is tied to Smithfield Foods (which was acquired by the China-based WH Group in 2013). This land is actively used for hog farming, feed mills, and food processing. Crop Production: Chinese entities also own cropland to support domestic supply chains, including acreage owned by agricultural biotech firms like Syngenta Seeds.

2. Renewable EnergyWind and Solar Farms: Large tracts of land—particularly in states like Texas—have been acquired or leased by Chinese-backed energy companies to develop wind farms and solar arrays.

3. Commercial and Investment Real Estate Portfolios: Private international investment firms (such as Walton International Group) manage land on behalf of global investors, which is held as a financial asset for stable, long-term returns and future development.

Seems to me it's a false alarm. America's land is not being directly snatched up by the Chinese Communist Party.

@sree251 So in other words, a variety of Chinese investors use land in the same way as everyone else. Unless they take it out of productive use, food security is unlikely to be compromised.
