@ElwoodBlues Out of all the promises that Dershowitz didn't keep, that one makes me the saddest.

This is as much unsubstantiated propaganda as Petey Hegseth claiming the war in Iran is a historic victory ("with a capital 'V')," or Kennedy, Jr. saying he's making America healthy again, or Corrupt & Incompetent Pedophile & Rapist Petty Cry-Baby-trump claiming he's the greatest president in history.
First of all, even if these are legitimate wins, at this point, only a few months into his administration, none of these "riches" have been earned yet. It's just a paper exercise. While the mass migration of rich people hasn't been immediate as the rich people claimed it would be, it is taking place and as those people move their permanent residencies to other states, those paper revenue gains won't result in real dollars.
The state of New York doesn't have a secret cache of funds, so if the state's costs go up, the only way to cover that is by raising state taxes. NEWSFLASH... New York City residents are also residents of New York State and they pay New York State taxes. So, while it's fun to say no property tax increase, an increase in state taxes is hardly a celebratory alternative.
I suspect all the new "Chief Savings Officer" positions are not volunteer ones, so it remains to be seen how much of those claimed savings really bear out as those "Officers" start hiring staff to replace the consultant company.
I'm not dismissing Mandami and his approach, necessarily. But, to prematurely hype what he has done with a commercial-style message is as intolerable as a meme pumping up the praise for the bombing of fishermen in unarmed boats or declaring victory in Iran as the war rages on.

@MarkPaul I think it's pretty sound:

@SatanBurger It's hardly sound (at all) when the politician (no matter who he/she is and what she/he represents) is the one announcing his own victory. In any case, in case you haven't observed, that is what all politicians tend to do (in politics, business, and community service).
Maybe he will be victorious. If so, it will be terrific to see others touting the success. In any case, it would be sound to wait for the results before pre-announcing "job well done" from a source that has a vested interest and vested readership in promoting a progressive agenda.
It's about results, not announcements.

@MarkPaul I'm sure there's going to be results, there's been other things going on over in NY that seem better than before

@SatanBurger Perspectives, perspectives, perspectives. Accumulation of wealth is it's own motivation.
SatanBurger · 36-40, F
@DeWayfarer Yeah but how do other countries do it cos America seems to be the only one behind and all the richies don't complain in other countries.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@SatanBurger SOCIAL pressures exist in every country. And the wealthy here in the USA have created their own social pressures.
Once again a perspective. Yet a controlling perspective. Capitalism pushes itself in literally thousands of ways. Force the social pressures (regulations) in a different direction you have a different outcome.
That is all they have done. Capitalism is limited in those countries. Go to EU and just watch TV. Few commercials. And that is just one limitation.
