Marco Rubio to visit Rome to ‘thaw’ US relations with Pope.

Rubio is scheduled to be in the Italian capital on Thursday and Friday to pay a call on Pope Leo, the first US-born pontiff. The Secretary of State is an emissary from Trump in this world. The Holy Father is the representative of God in the next.

Rubio asked to meet the prime minister Giorgia Meloni, but the request had not yet been granted, the source added. Rubio’s damage-control visit was aimed at “thawing” frosty relations with both Rome and the Vatican, a mission described as “not impossible, but complicated”. First of all, Meloni is a woman. You can't mess with a woman the way Trump kicks men around. And Pope Leo, is an American.

If I were Trump, I would send Vance, instead of Rubio, not to make up with the Pontiff, but to go to Confession and ask for forgiveness.
