Trump wants America to pay him billions. And he has all the cards.

Of all the ways President Trump has pushed the boundaries of executive power, one stands out to lawyers and watchdogs.

Trump has filed multiple claims arguing he's been hurt by Justice Department investigations of him. One of which is the leak of his tax returns years ago. Another was the ransacking at Mar-a-Lago by the FBI. Now it's up to his own political appointees to determine whether to settle with their boss — and for how much taxpayer money. The president wants the government he leads to pay him billions of dollars.

But at a time when Americans say their top concern is the cost of living and making ends meet, the idea of the president receiving a massive windfall from the government he leads may not sit well with voters — even if it is donated to charity.

Is it fair to ask the American people to pay out such a large settlement? Trump dismissed any concern, insisting that anything he wins would go to charity.

"They give money to charity anyway," Trump said. "They give $40 billion a year to charity, our government."

@sree251 you don't even live in the United States yet you believe everything you read

@LadyGrace actully it started before he took office

@Virgo79 absolutely... Way before and now he's having to clean up their mess.

I live in Illinois. Three days ago, gas was $5.05 a gallon that cost me $3.40 a year back. The rise wasn't gradual. It was $3.60 before Trump started the goddam war with Iran.

I had wanted to ask you why you evangelicals support Trump to wage war?

actully it started before he took office

When did it start?
LadyGrace · 80-89
@sree251 You've been misinformed that's all I'll say about what he's doing and why. He knows exactly what he's doing and it takes a whole lot to undo all the damage that the former Administration did, that's why it looks bad right now and even Trump said it will get worse before it gets better and it has to be that way because he's got to fix what the former Administration messed up so badly before we can even start to get our heads above water. That's how bad the last Administration was. These things just don't repair overnight. Obama just devastated our country, just ruined it, and so did Biden.
LadyGrace · 80-89
@sree251 With Obama, then to make matters worse, Biden.

@LadyGrace
You've been misinformed that's all I'll say about what he's doing and why.

You are implying that you are not misinformed. You are also implying that you support what Trump is doing. And what do you mean by getting worse? Support Israel in killing more people? As a Christian, how do you justify killing people?
LadyGrace · 80-89
@sree251 no not at all, I didn't mean it that way. I do support what Trump is doing. I believe in him. We are not in a position where we know or can judge everything about why he does things. I didn't vote for the Pope. I voted for a President that I thought would get this country straightened out again, like he had been before he was elected again. The alternative was too damaging for our country. Running this country takes a lot of guts and he's got it. The media are the ones misinformed and are continuously trying to influence how people think about him. That is, the ones that have always been against him. Notice how other countries don't threaten when he is in office. They know he's not a wimp. Biden was an embarrassment. It's a shame that we do have to have wars and people are killed. Sometimes that's necessary unfortunately, and sadly, when push comes to shove. Trump protects our country.
LadyGrace · 80-89
@sree251 What you're seeing with the gas prices, is not failure, but Trump trying to fix what the former Administration caused and failed so badly in. Trump needs and wants Americans to pay him Millions? That will be the day, when Trump needs money. Hahaha
sree251 · 41-45, M
@LadyGrace no not at all, I didn't mean it that way. I do support what Trump is doing. I believe in him. We are not in a position where we know or can judge everything about why he does things.

I did support and voted for Trump also. I did believe in him. I placed my trust in him to do the right things, things I felt was good for the country. Trump was my political representative put into office by me to do those things. He is just another American to me, nothing more.

I didn't vote for the Pope. I voted for a President that I thought would get this country straightened out again, like he had been before he was elected again. The alternative was too damaging for our country.

I thought he would straighten out the country also. Your idea of straightening out the country may be different from mine. What does straightening the country mean to you? Cite me three things that needed to be done to straighten out the country.

Running this country takes a lot of guts and he's got it. The media are the ones misinformed and are continuously trying to influence how people think about him. That is, the ones that have always been against him. Notice how other countries don't threaten when he is in office. They know he's not a wimp. Biden was an embarrassment.

You seem fixated of the person of Trump. He is charismatic to you but not to me. I gave him my vote to assume power of the presidency for one purpose: do what I want done for the country. I don't want America's resources spent on fighting foreign wars and killing people.

It's a shame that we do have to have wars and people are killed. Sometimes that's necessary unfortunately, and sadly, when push comes to shove. Trump protects our country.

It's not a shame. It's a sin and a crime to kill people especially when it can be avoided. America doesn't need protection when it is most powerful nation armed to the teeth and separated from the rest of the world by two oceans. Why is it necessary for America to bomb Iran? Can you explain this? Give me your argument.
LadyGrace · 80-89
@sree251 you voted for Trump and all you do is bad-mouth him. Right. I doubt you voted for Trump
LadyGrace · 80-89
@sree251 no it's not a sin to have war. Even war was necessary in Jesus' day to blot out evil
sree251 · 41-45, M
@LadyGrace
no it's not a sin to have war.

We are talking about bombing and killing people in Iran, an unprovoked war Trump started on Feb 27 with a surprise attack killing a cleric, his grandchild along with its mother. And you say that is not a sin?

Even war was necessary in Jesus' day to blot out evil

What are you saying here? There was great cruelty and savagery in Jesus' day. What evil was blotted out in Jesus' day? And what had Jesus got to do with that. Did Jesus sanctioned war that killed God's creations?
sree251 · 41-45, M
@LadyGrace
you voted for Trump and all you do is bad-mouth him. Right. I doubt you voted for Trump

Trump is well-known for his famous "You are fired!" line. I am not bad-mouthing Trump. I want him fired the moment he went rogue. I am like Trump. I don't suffer fools either.

Just because I voted for him doesn't mean I am beholden and morally obligated to stand by him regardless of his conduct and job performance. He is just a goddam hiree. For heaven's sake, what's the matter with you?
LadyGrace · 80-89

And you support Trump. Does he have decency? That horrid classless blasphemous message he sent out on Easter Sunday. You are all over the place, LadyGrace.
