I think the war in Ukraine will fizzle out since Europe no longer has the ability to keep it going without the US' financial and military backing.

@TexChik Ukraine is doing not too bad at the moment! 50,000 Russian invaders killed every month. Russia hasn't made any progress for more than two years. I've seen beautiful video clips of Ukrainian drones killing Russian invaders on their motorbikes. Going to Ukraine means certain death for Russian attackers. You go there – you will die. Many do although they know they will die, to support their starving families in Russia.
(Ukraine is even consulting the Gulf states, regarding drone construction and drone defense.)

@helenS wait until they no longer have ammo, parts, equipment, and satellite support from the US.

@TexChik Following the crushing defeat of the right wing populist (and vocal Trump ally) Viktor Orban in Hungary's general election last weekend, an EU loan of €90bn ($106bn) to Ukraine has been unblocked. The loan had been vetoed by Hungary and Slovakia since March over unsubstantiated allegations that Ukraine was responsible for sabotaging an oil pipeline. Strangely enough the oil has begun to flow again following Orban's defeat.

@SunshineGirl Orban's successor is also very right wing and is becoming a Trump ally, strangely enough. The EU can't afford to defend themselves and the rising fuel costs has caused Italy to refuse to pay any of its NATO dues. Without and American patsy to pay their bills, the EU is in a pretty pickle...and as for NATO...dying on the vine.

Trump will engage in unilateral agreements with America friendly countries and likely add tariffs to those who aren't.

@TexChik Peter Magyar is right of centre and, funnily enough, no Trump ally after J D Vance attempted to interfere in a national election by actively campaigning against him. The week since the election was marked by several former government ministers desperately tryng to remove their stolen wealth from the country: disgust with state sanctioned corruption was one of the decisive factors.

Trump will do what he wants, of course. As I pointed out before, it is a legal impossibility to unilaterally negotiate with/sanction one of the EU's 27 member states . . as he has already discovered with Spain.

@SunshineGirl really? I think Spain gets to eat a tariff and beg Russia for oil anyway. They have proven they are not an ally . They stumbled over themselves to tell Trump we could not use our bases there. Europe is strapped for cash and energy and has a severe immigration problem. Trump put NATO to the test by asking them to step up and help. He did not need it and they proved they could not be trusted. Not his problem. The US has allies that can be trusted

@TexChik He needs to read the terms of the North Atlantic Treaty before getting himself all hot and bothered 😅 Plus he picked a fight with a net energy producer who couldn't care less about oil prices 🇪🇸

@SunshineGirl oh i think NATO exists only because we fund it, while most involved in that treaty do not and will not pay their agreed upon share for their defense... making any such treaty null and void. Member nations must abide by the entire treaty, not just the most advantageous parts. Now the weak backstabbing Brits are about to lose the Falkland Islands. Argentina wants them back and they are a US ally.
