Mamdani Looking Into Whether He Can Tax Residents Of Other Cities

As part of his ongoing plan to implement his sweeping socialist policies throughout New York City, Mayor Zohran Mamdani was reportedly looking into whether he can tax residents of other cities as well.

After imposing heavy taxes on New Yorkers to fund his agenda for the city, Mamdani met with his staff to determine the legality of raising taxes on residents of surrounding cities to make up for the hundreds of billions of dollars his plans were sure to cost.

"There's got to be a way for us to get more people's money," Mamdani told his aides. "We're making good progress on squeezing people dry here in this city, but that's not going to be nearly enough to pay for all of our proposed initiatives. So, let's look into what we can do about imposing crushing taxes on everyone else who doesn't live in New York City. Yeah?"

Sources within the mayor's office praised the ambitious plan. "This is socialism at its finest," one insider said. "You make insane promises for free stuff while campaigning, tax people into poverty to pay for a small fraction of those promises, and then look for ways to spread the economic destruction outside your own area. It's beautiful. Soon, it won't just be New Yorkers who can't afford to eat or pay their rent. We'll lay the groundwork to make it happen across America."

At publishing time, Mamdani had assured New Yorkers that everything in their lives would soon be free as soon as he figured out a way for it to be paid for by someone else.

At publishing time, it was also learned that NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani told his inner circle for what the extra tax money from other cities would be used. "We need to provide for the Nomenklatura, comrades. That means us, just like it did in the former Soviet Union. We will get all the fancy cars, palatial living quarters and sumptuous food, while the hoi polloi can live in shabby tenements and travel to work in grimy subways," Mayor Mamdani chuckled, according to exclusive leaked sources close to the matter.

Remember one thing

HE CAN'T CREATE ANY TAXES NO MATTER WHAT HE SAYS

@pdockal

No, but he can raise property taxes, which is a threat he has used to shake down Gov. Hochul in Albany for more money.

MayorZohran Mamdani requiredstate-level approvalfor his "tax the rich" measures, including the new pied-à-terre tax. Under the New York State Constitution, the power of taxation is held by the state, and the city cannot implement new types of taxes—like surcharges on luxury second homes or changes to income tax rates—without authorization from the New York State Legislature.

@pdockal

Yes, of course he did, but you did not address his use of the threat to unilaterally raise property taxes in NYC to get the new type of tax approval from Albany.
pdockal · 56-60, M
@Thinkerbell

None of that has been implemented yet
He can't make new taxes
He can't raise taxes
Only Albany can
Thinkerbell · 41-45, F
@pdockal

He can unilaterally raise NYC property taxes.
Read the article I posted.

While the Mayor can propose tax changes and pressure state leadership, most major revenue streams—including personal income and corporate taxes—require authorization from the New York State Legislature and the Governo

Read this NBC piece:

"The mayor does not have the authority to raise property taxes without the approval of City Council."

Mamdani would only have needed the approval of the City Council, not Albany.

I don't need to read it

@pdockal

Yes, your mind's made up.

I shouldn't bother you with facts. 🤭

@Thinkerbell

Who says your information is correct ?????
Thinkerbell · 41-45, F
@pdockal

I gave you TWO sources that said so.

You gave exactly NONE for your opinion.
pdockal · 56-60, M
@Thinkerbell

I know the law

NYS constitution is specific

News articles are biased

I'm sure the rich will either sell and move or challenge any discriminatory laws
Thinkerbell · 41-45, F
@pdockal

Then cite the specific part of the NY constitution that proves your opinion.
pdockal · 56-60, M
@Thinkerbell

Then what's the issue ?????
Thinkerbell · 41-45, F
@pdockal

The issue is that you haven't provided a link to that part of the NY constitution that proves your opinion. You only have claimed that you "know" it.
pdockal · 56-60, M
@Thinkerbell

Maybe go read it
Might do you some good
Thinkerbell · 41-45, F
@pdockal

You made the claim.

The burden of proof is on you.
pdockal · 56-60, M
@Thinkerbell

It's not a claim
I don't need to educate you
I just need to point out when you're miss informed and you do whatever you wish
It's pathetic when people don't read proper documents and don't make informed decisions
Thinkerbell · 41-45, F
@pdockal

Of course it's a claim.

You claimed it is somewhere in the NY Constitution, but provided no link.
pdockal · 56-60, M
@Thinkerbell

Are you incapable of finding and reading and understanding that document

Oh wait your probably not even American
Thinkerbell · 41-45, F
@pdockal

Are you incapable of providing a link to that part of the NY constitution that says what you claim?

It seems that you are indeed incapable.

@Thinkerbell

Why would i do that ?
