Imagine Germany Giving Property Tax Breaks to Non-Profit Groups Honoring the Nazi Party.

Well, a similar practice goes on in the United States. But at least in Virginia that is coming to and end.

Virginia Gov. Abigail Spanberger (D) on Monday signed into law a bill eliminating tax exemptions for multiple organizations connected to the Confederacy.

Democrats in the Virginia House and Senate passed HB167 with vote totals of 62-35 and 21-17, respectively, earlier this year. The bill specifically removes the Virginia Division of the United Daughters of the Confederacy (UDC) and the Confederate Memorial Literary Society, among other similar groups, from the list of organizations exempt from state property taxes.

@sunsporter1649 says
hiding their history and covering up the present
Oh we remember the history of southern treason. All those southern West Point grads swore an oath. And reneged on it.

"I, _____, appointed a _____ in the Army of the United States, do solemnly swear, or affirm, that I will bear true allegiance to the United States of America, and that I will serve them honestly and faithfully
against all their enemies or opposers whatsoever, and observe and obey the orders of the President of the United States, and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to the rules and articles for the government of the Armies of the United States."

And here's how the Constitution defines treason:
Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying war against them, or in adhering to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort.

Those officers who swore allegiance to the US turned around and launched a war against the US. That's treason. We don't need tax breaks for the folks who celebrate that treason to remember it.

@ElwoodBlues Well then the demonocrat party must be eliminated, since all those folks were of that political party
@sunsporter1649 So, according to your "thinking," if a handful of people from a political party did a bad thing 160 years ago, then the whole party needs to be eliminated NOW???
