THIS Is What Trump Wants to Send Our Sailors Into.

The Strait of Hormuz is about 21 nautical miles at its narrowest point. And while that is wider than the Strait of Gibraltar, its length is about 100 nautical miles, nearly three times the length of the Strait of Gibraltar.

Navy ships would come under attack from land, sea, air and below the sea (mines attached to the sea bed that would rise and explode to break the keel of a vessel).

And for what? To keep the cost of gasoline under $4 per gallon?

Trump didn't plan this out. He NEVER plans anything out. No wonder he went bankrupt six times. And now instead of running casinos he wants to gamble with the lives of our brave men and women in the Navy.

If we're going to escort tankers thru the Strait in a way as safe was possible, we need to control BOTH sides of it - and that means launching an amphibious invasion of Iran. Because it means more than just sinking ships and bombing airbases. Ground forces must be completely neutralized and reinforcements stopped from entering the area. It also means searching, discovering and eliminating all mobile missile rocket launchers before a successful invasion can be initiated.

This is not Iraq in 1991, which underwent intense bombing for SIX WEEKS, followed up by a land invasion thru the barren desert of Saudi Arabia. We don't have the means to launch a land invasion of southern Iran - only an amphibious one.

And it's been over 75 YEARS since the last time the U.S. conducted a major amphibious invasion (Inchon during the Korean War in September 1950). The planning by Gen. Douglas MacArthur and his staff took over six weeks and the invasion itself involved some 70,000 troops supported by over 260 naval vessels.

Small point of order. Trump wants to send the ships of other nations in there now. So we can risk our Navies to protect America oil. Pass!

Tomorrow he'll want the Martians to patrol the Strait. He switches his mind at least daily.

And the "Draft Barron" memes are coming hot & heavy!
I skipped the one about "hereditary bonespurs"!

@ElwoodBlues Even the Andrew formerly known as Prince faced real peril in the Falklands, flying a helicopter as missile bait..😷

@ElwoodBlues Just a factual point to ponder. Prince Harry did indeed serve in Afghanistan and was on the front line. However, the moment the press leaked that fact he was ushered out as being a target and therefore a danger to his colleagues.

It is true that the Trump family want to he seen as 'royalty', but there are costs of defending them if you have them. On the subject of Barron, a glib answer of 'send him and let him die' is not a civilised response IMHO and would do nothing to repair the immorality of the situation.

This is what you sign up for when you are in the Military. Particularly under the current administration..😷

Unless you are disqualified with bone spurs.
@whowasthatmaskedman they now know they have no rights, anything goes and maximizing lethality is okay. I'm glad Hegseth clarified what they will get. Anything. Whatever. All.

I don't know. It might be best if he doesn't serve. Donnie is big believer on eugenics. Barron probably inherited his father's yellow streak. I can see him throwing someone is harms way and deserting.
SatanBurger · 36-40, F
That looks like a mass casualty event if I ever heard of it. If they decide to do that, that's most certainly suicide
Congress says whatever Trump wants, Trump gets. No more rules, freedom to maximize lethality. It's bipartisan.
Send in the troops! No rules. No respect for their rights. Maximized lethality and torture. Cutting things off.

@Roundandroundwego

Democrats would have passed a war powers resolution. But we don't control either chamber of Congress.

What does he care. He has new shoes... for him and his cronies.
newjaninev2 · 56-60, F
@MarkPaul I wonder what sort of kickback Florsheim gets
MarkPaul · 26-30, M
@newjaninev2 None. They are actually suing him for his illegal tariffs which is hurting their bottom line despite all of his purchases since they import their shoes and unknown to him, Americans (including him) pay for the tariffs with higher prices.
