If the US can easily invade Venezuela and threatens Cuba, why can't China take Taiwan?

Taking Taiwan would be like taking Long Island. All it takes is a blockade of Taiwan by the Chinese Navy. Why doesn't Xi use Trump's playbook and put an end to the standoff?

...because it would diminish China's credibility as a global economic power, no different than Trump has destroyed America's credibility as a global power by threatening annexation and invading Iran on behalf of Israel.

Trump has not destroyed America's credibility as a global power. Every move he has made in the flexing of presidential power, though alarming, has no substantial impact on America or the world. All he has done is rack up damages America has to pay for shoving other countries around. For example, the Panama Canal is still under management of Hutchinson Whampoa until it is compensated multi-billion dollar damages for unlawful contract termination by Panama's government. Maduro and his wife are unlawfully abducted. Iran has war reparations claim that the US must pay. Americans cannot ignore international law if we want to exist as a nation state within the world community. Trump may not care a damn but the US must pay for America's misadventures.

US has a $30.6 trillion national economy. The only way Trump can destroy it is to launch a nuclear war. He does not have the courage to do that.

The US also has a $38Trillion National Debt which is now impossible to pay off. What is your point?

My point is that Trump is a superficial blot. The national debt must be dealt with. It is $38 trillion. This is part of the total liability of the US amounting to $233 trillion. This means that our national debt is 16.3% of total liability. What are the assets of the United States? Every balance sheet has both liabilities and asset so what are ours? A conservative estimate is around $550 trillion. Subtract from that the $233 trillion liability gives us a national net worth of $317 trillion after paying off all liabilities including the national debt. Not bad.

Imagine your net worth is $ 1 million after paying off all debts. You would still be in pretty good shape, right? The $38 trillion national debt is equivalent to your current credit card debt of $120,000. It's a lot, no doubt; but you are still a millionaire after paying it off.
