is anyone else a progressive Republican?

What I mean by a progressive Republican—or, you could even call it a reform Republican—is someone modeled after figures like Abraham Lincoln, Teddy Roosevelt, or even FDR. Although FDR was a Democrat, he drew on many classical Republican principles. Essentially, this type of Republican is strongly opposed to slavery—or, in a modern context, human trafficking—firmly against corruption in general, and also supports traditional Republican issues such as gun rights and the Constitution.

There are no progressive Republicans. If you vote Republican you're voting against the Constitution. You're voting against stopping human trafficking and you're voting for the modern day version of slavery. You can try and deflect by going back 100 years but it means nothing in reality.

@Ynotisay question for you who helped freed the slaves? and also who is the Republican who wanted more Healthcare? (cough cough Abraham Lincoln and Teddy Roosevelt) I'm not talking about conservatives I'm talking about Republicans in a classical historical way

@1930sfan MAGA has made all of that moot, and they want to rewrite the entire history of U.S. chattel slavery. The voters who are still progressive but not Democrats probably identify as independents now.

@1930sfan OK. Why? Why is that relevant to anything today in any way? What point are you making? Maybe at least try to stick within the realm of pre and post electricity in homes. Now if you're a Republican because of what happened more than a hundred years ago I'd say you're trying a little too hard justify something. There are no progressive Republicans today. Full stop. And that includes those who want to feel like their beliefs are special.

@Ynotisay actually it is so relevant take for a sample human trafficking human trafficking is modern slavery it is non-finished Collision I believe we should use safety nets in healthcare to help victims of human trafficking and make sure it never happens

@1930sfan I have a question about today’s GOP that no one ever seems to be able to answer:

If they still see themselves as the "Party of Lincoln", why are they the ones trying to censor the history about the institution that Lincoln famously ended ?

Moreover, why are they the ones now most often flying the flag of the people who assassinated him ?
