Oh this sounds familiar.

How many times has this kind of thing been proposed ?
How many times has it failed ?
How many U.S Presidents have attempted to leave a lasting peace having attempted to bribe or cajole or annihilate who THEY see as the 'obstruction' ?

There's way too much Israeli money in U.S politics.
Actually that might be a good place to start !

Sounds like the argument Israeli forces have been proposing, and failing with, for over 80 years, and has only been possible to try with US funding. It hasn't worked, ot haz only succeeded in vastly more expenditure, vastly greater casualties and pushing peace further and further away. You want peace you start back at the 1967 borders, and guarantee those borders and peaceful relations.
Yes there will be sporadic attacks from Palestinians, but the majority want peace. The same applies to Israelis, but curently extremists on both sides only want to "win". The USA and other "interested" parties have to take the long road and work with the majorities that want peace, send the extremists to the International court and outlast them.

To summarise..... for whose benefit?

The residents of all those disparate, fractious countries in the Middle East, fighting over an unholy mixture of territorial ambitions, theocracy and rulers' personal power; or -

uncontested American regional hegemony

I can’t take the time to read that but here is the AI summary for me.

The author argues that the post–October 7, 2023 environment presents a rare strategic window for the United States and Israel to reassert regional dominance through coordinated military, political, and reconstruction campaigns. The underlying premise is that adversaries—Iran’s proxies, jihadist factions, and the Assad regime—are weakened and can be decisively contained or eliminated with renewed U.S. assertiveness.

Fuck that.

Thank you for your consideration.
