I think the word is "uninhibited". She was an uninhibited spirit further fortified by drugs and alcohol, who played to an audience likewise under the influence.
She was good, I like her music. She was very talented. I also feel very sorry for her when I think her dependency on drugs may have prevented her from enjoying her accomplishments.

My favorite female vocalist. That said, I wouldn't bequeath sainthood on her. Such a voice. Lost way too soon. She wasn't weird, she just rode the dragon until it ate her.
