She seems to have gone off the same cliff roseanne jumped off of.

@Carla Maybe she should write a protest song about ICE, then you might like her.
Carla · 61-69, F
@SumKindaMunster didn't work for bruce
SumKindaMunster · 56-60, M
@Carla No? I thought you were all impassioned by his protest song...
Carla · 61-69, F
@SumKindaMunster im sure you did.
Think that.
But then, why would i expect you would have read and actually understood what i had to say regarding that.
What i am hoping is that his attempt will impassion other artists to use their voices.
But i suppose for you, any protest song, from any artist would be what?...virtue signaling? Is that what woody Guthrie did? Virtue signal?

@Carla well maybe you.
Should write clear more.
I am perfectly capable of understanding thoughts and concepts explained to me properly.
Thank you for clarifying your earlier statement.
The issue I have with Bruce's song is that it is insincere, contrived, and desperately contemporary. Bruce is a limousine liberal, he has not been a part of the working class since the 70s.
True protest songs come from the heart and have passion and feeling.
This song sounds like someone prompted AI with "Write a Bruce Springsteen style protest song but make it about ICE, and Minnesota. Make sure to name check the two protestors who were killed"
Good music has a timelessness factor. This is a desperate attempt to stay relevant and drive people to see Bruce's movie and buy his merchandise.

@SumKindaMunster go listen to kid rock's "we the people."
And i know it's a whatabout. But is it Springsteen 's message or its delivery?
It just seems that y'all waste a lot of breath and energy being incensed about someone peacefully exercising their First Amendment rights.
Can't sprinsteen just be pissed at what is happening? Even if his attempt at
speaking out seems lame to some people? Others may find it inspiring.

@Carla Why do anti Trumpers always assume we all like the same artists and pundits who support Trump?
Kid Rock had a couple of good songs in the 90's, I don't really care about his politics. It's cool he is a Trump supporter. Other than that, I don't care what he has to say.
I've already explained my disdain for Springsteen's efforts. It sounds fake and contrived. That's my opinion. I don't believe he cares either way, save for him to be on the "correct" side of the issue.
It's fine if other people find it inspirational, that doesn't negate my opinion of him and his efforts.

@SumKindaMunster your opinion belongs to you.
My opinion, mine.
Have i listened to that tune again? No. Will i? Likely not.
And i will likely not discuss it elsewhere.
If you don't care what rock has to say, why care about springsteen?
So what if he is using his music to stay relevant?
People of all stripes do that regularly.
Call out his message if you oppose it.
But his motivation? You can't know.

@Vin53 Good art is open to interpretation. It's a song about a man who served in Vietnam, and when he returns to the states, finds that his service was for nothing and he is denied at every turn searching for help or connection.
It IS patriotic in that the chorus is his lament to his birthright...he was Born in the USA, but he is treated as if he is nothing special and his service was for nothing.
