Trump says Republicans should ‘nationalize’ elections

"On Monday, Donald Trump laid out his strategy for the midterm elections on Dan Bongino’s podcast.

Here's the quote: "The Republicans should say, 'We want to take over. We should take over the voting in at least 15 places.' The Republicans ought to nationalize the voting."

"Take over." "Nationalize."

He is openly talking about a federal seizure of ballot boxes in specific cities and counties that oppose him. He is talking about ending the constitutional separation of powers and replacing local, non-partisan election officials with federal agents loyal only to him.

Now you know why he has spent the last year building up ICE into a domestic paramilitary force and pumping tens of billions of dollars into DHS to mask and arm agents to the teeth.

The scenes we are witnessing in Minneapolis are proof of concept for what Trump can get away with. It’s a training ground.

He has built the army. Now, with his seizures of ballots in Georgia and this call to "nationalize" the vote, he is building the justification to deploy them to polling places in Atlanta, Philadelphia, and Detroit this November.

This is clear, obvious fascism and an existential threat to the Republic in an election year.

He told us what he is going to do. We have to believe him."

Here in Australia we have a federal electoral Commission... They are totally independent of the government of the day and the decisions are non political... They organise electoral districts based on population size, nothing more...

@Convivial Same with Canada. it's called Elections Canada, totally independent of government.

@Convivial That wouldnt do at all in America. No one can make a profit out of it..And having voting compulsory cuts into peoples freedom and rights not to have to do a thing..😷

@JimboSaturn with what I think are the states rights issues in the American system I doubt if there is enough trust to ever bring it about
Convivial · 26-30, F
@whowasthatmaskedman but if you don't change you get the situation you're in now
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@Convivial But Americans voted for the situation they are in now. And all the money people love the situation they are in now, because they pay no tax and can clean up when the economy collapses..😷
Convivial · 26-30, F
@whowasthatmaskedman 33% of Americans voted for it...
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@Convivial And less voted against..Compulsory voting would have saved a lot of heart ache. But too late now,,😷

@Convivial Here in the United States of America, a mentally unhinged POTUS who falsely claimed that he won the 2020 national election, and who organized and led a violent riot in an attempt to overturn that election has now declared war on voting machines (with evidenceless, false claims re: their security) and is attempting to gain control of voting in 15 states.

It should be noted that very same individual should be prohibited from being on ANY BALLOTS because of his attempted (but ultimately unsuccessful ) insurrection on January 6, 2021 which left 140 Capitol Police Officers injured.
@Convivial here we didn't vote for that and we don't use our own laws to establish commissions, we have fiat rule by the rich.
But that's okay, everyone loves Australia and nobody cares if we're toast in the USA.

@Roundandroundwego the world does care actually....
@Convivial our president just went over our heads to reform "our" elections and we're stuck asking whether we like the new reforms. Washington already did the same with wars, social welfare and human rights. We're getting bigger prisons as our crime rate reaches zero. We're sick and dying and more profitable than ever, making changes unprofitable and therefore impossible. And everyone following us needs to stop and go the other way, including AUKUS states.

@Roundandroundwego I think maybe it's time for a new catch phrase... The American dream has become a waking nightmare...
@Convivial in Philadelphia in 1776 when they "founded" the USA, polls showed a huge majority in Philadelphia against the new "nation". It didn't enjoy public support. It wasn't a country, it was an invasion. Things got nightmarish right away.
Convivial · 26-30, F
@Roundandroundwego so I understand... But in all honesty there's been 200 years to change things for the better... And your amendments show it's possible to do so
@Convivial hardly. Inequality is as great as ever, The Right Wing with its CIA definitely assassinated each leader with a more humanistic vision. None shall pass! And the population was taught through several anti communist cullings that they will be sorry if their politics is a threat to the oligarchy.! This evil wasn't never anything but.
