Does the President of Finland have a point?

Yes, Finnish President Alexander Stubb has a serious, data-driven argument regarding the Ukraine-Russia war.

He argues that Russia is not winning strategically, citing ~1 million casualties, halted economic growth, and minimal territorial gains (2%). Stubb advocates for continued Western support, emphasizing that a "just peace" is unlikely right now.

Key points regarding the Finnish President's stance:
Russia's Weakness: Stubb highlights that Russia's economy is severely strained by a 30% inflation rate and depleted reserves.

Strategic Failure: He points out that despite long-term conflict, Russia has only managed to occupy about 2% of Ukrainian land.

Support for Ukraine: Stubb warns against falling for the narrative that Russia is winning, urging allies to maintain, not reduce, aid to Ukraine.

Nuclear Rhetoric: He has noted that Russia's use of nuclear threats is largely a sign of weakness, as they are losing conventional war advantages.

His perspective is part of a broader, proactive foreign policy aimed at securing European stability following Finland's NATO membership.

they were claiming that russia was running out of ammo two years ago...

ukraine only holding out due to funding & equipment from everyone else.

Putin is playing the long game, keep things going until europe loses interest (which is already happening).

As soon as the war profiteers/military industry complex decides they can't make anymore money, ukraine will fold like a wet paper bag...

the west especially is notoriously critical of public response from anti-war protests, media bias, etc. when it comes to wars...

sure, they might be all in at first (as was the case with vietnam, iraq, afghanistan, etc.), but people quickly lose interest in supporting them when the goals are more political than strategic. (we don't fight wars to win anymore apparently...).

In Russia or China, they limit information & suppress public outcry (or just make opponents "disappear")

@wildbill83 same prediction like Trumps 24h 😅 or Putin's 3 days special operation.

If one is selfish in Europe , preferred duration of war should be 3 more years. Russia survives on Chinese imports , high oil price .Most industries in Russia do not make profit, so there is no need to stop them .

@ArtieKat Sure, but I thought since I "obviously" "missed" these various reports that are so common, you'd maybe take less time than it took to respond to me 2 times on this and supply your source.

But apparently not. 🤷‍♂

Basically some logic in there some not. His opinion would have some merit when he writes Ukraine a big fat check.
