Do left wing Western people say there was no Arab slave trade of blacks?

I haven't heard any denials, but why would they deny it? Seems to me they would use that to try to make their ancestors look better considering the Arab slave trade lasted until the 20th century, all the while laying Aboriginal / indigenous claim to North Africa.
