The countries all these people come from pay us all, dontcha know?
We appreciate it too. Everyone knows that all liberals are unemployed. We need all that cartel cash...
And the votes! We need all those illegal votes. We all know if not for them, trump would have won by a true landslide.
Really though...
Trump needs illegals here. There are enough here to run this operation till terms end. He needs the opticals. He needs the unrest. He and his cult thrive on it.
If you truly wished to understand the left's stance on undocumented immigrants, you would educate yourself with the mountains of information available to you.
But alas, you look for affirmation for your already solidified beliefs.

@Carla If illegals don't vote, why the resistance to a National Voter ID law?

@Carla Hm. Well I am aware of the mainstreams view of this, I was curious what you believe.
I'm sure it doesn't surprise you I fall on the side that supports a valid ID to vote. It's a no brainer. The same "disadvantaged" people noted here still need to get an ID to drive, to fly, to provide identification to purchase alcohol or marijuana, why not require it to vote?

@SumKindaMunster so many people...millions, have no means to purchase alcohol or drugs. Much less fly, drive or anything else other than survive.
My take is, if a person chooses to utilize their right to vote, and the govt requires id, then the govt should provide that id, and the means to aquire it.
It would only be a thing for those unable to get that id.
As you say, most of us already have valid id.
I produce mine when i vote in person. It's required. By mail, no. But, my name is on the voter rolls and ballots are matched.
But you know all of this. Requiring id has nothing to do with barring non citizens from the polls. It's about making it prohibitive for marginalized communies and individuals to do so.
Make free and easy access to voter id a thing.

@Carla Gee, a simple trip to the voter registration office and register for free, doncha know
SumKindaMunster · 56-60, M
@Carla So I don't have a problem with the government providing the ID. We already have "Real ID" required for air travel, why not expand that to voting?
Nonsense. That is the BEST way to ensure non citizens don't get to vote. That's why we require IDs to drive. Makes it real easy to figure out if the person is authorized to operate a motor vehicle. If you are overly concerned about "marginalized" communities voting, then why not more outreach by political parties to sign them up? I think this is two separate issues combined into one to obscure illegals voting for Democrats.

@sunsporter1649 not without an id.
No id without birth certificate.
The nearest voter registration place to me is almost an hours drive.
Some things you find so simple are impossible for others.
But we all know what you think of others...

"California has implemented a law providing for the automatic voter registration of motorists who obtain or renew driver's licenses, and critics contend that the law will make it easier for non-citizens to unlawfully vote."

@sunsporter1649 I'm not advocating the California solution. Note:
Automatic is the issue here. Nobody is scrutinizing the creation of IDs for both voting and driving. Note I suggested a Real ID solution, not a solution where its automatically issued during another transaction.

@SumKindaMunster if so many "illegals" vote and if there has been such concern over it for a decade or more, where is the proof of these votes?
Are investigative authorities so incompetent that evidence just eludes them?
And what happens? Do the democrats go out to home depot and round up a bunch of day laborers to line up at the polls...but just in those few states that do not require id?
The best argument I've heard is that immigrants have an effect on districting because a portion will fill out the census.

You can't find evidence of a crime if you don't investigate it. And what happens? Do the democrats go out to home depot and round up a bunch of day laborers to line up at the polls...but just in those few states that do not require id?
Sometimes! Sometimes they go around with money and hand it out to people so they can get to the polls to vote. It's not a bribe, it's money to get them to the polls. It's not illegal to do so.
SumKindaMunster · 56-60, M
@sunsporter1649 I dunno, can you be more specific in your question?
Carla · 61-69, F
@SumKindaMunster but it is illegal for them to vote. Most speak no english. Nor read it. What you are suggesting is unreasonable. The scale.
I have heard of people assisting poor and unable people get to the polls. Not illegals though
And didn't many states put a stop to that? As well as helping people stay hydrated in long lines?
Why isn't it being investigated? It's been a right wing talking point for a very long time.
There are enough right leaning journalists to uncover all this fraud. Or a congress led by the right, on and off, mostly on, for a decade.
It is much easier to theorize that there is all this fraud, by these evil immigrants, manipulated by those evil democrats,
Then to investigate, find little to nothing, and burst the bubbles of all those immigrant hating voters.

North Carolina has removed over 700,000 individuals from its registered voter list, officials say.
The State Board of Elections announced Thursday that 747,000 people have been removed from voter rolls in the last 20 months due to ineligibility.
"The county boards follow careful policies to ensure that only ineligible records are removed, not those of eligible voters," the Board of Elections said in a press release.

@Carla
Fair point. My last question is, IF we took the "marginalized" out of this equation, what would be the harm in enforcing a national voter id to ENSURE only citizens are allowed to vote?
And didn't many states put a stop to that? As well as helping people stay hydrated in long lines?
Supposedly, yes. My MIL was a ward for the Democrat party in South Philly and she used to hand out 10 dollar bills to people to get them to the polls. That was a long time ago though. Why isn't it being investigated? It's been a right wing talking point for a very long time.

@SumKindaMunster i have no problem with that. Never have.
When the motive is to make certain that only legal votes are counted, im all good. Fraud should be identified and rejected.
When the motive is putting up road blocks to eligible voters that either party wishes to hinder? No not about that.
