@PicturesOfABetterTomorrow i was 15 - and with the “war on drugs” campaign that was fed to youth beginning in mid-1980, Noriega was described as public enemy #1. Years later I met a guy (ex military and ex con) who told me of all the covert shit he was involved with in the 1970s and 80s. Being the internet age, I looked up all of his claims and found he was dead serious. I suspect the current situation is similar.

@trollslayer Yeah. Rumour was back in the day that he basically ran the CIA's drug operation. And Just like how Assad and Hussein they were useful until they were not and they were disposed of.
After the Iran-Iraq war Saddam Hussein outlived his usefulness.....literally.
And the US didn't need to rendition people to Syria after the US opened Gitmo and didn't need to outsource torture anymore so Assad was targeted.
