Its not spite buts its also not maga. I think we need to stop getting fooled by the parasite class and their very simple linguistic tricks/lies. Maga is the same as banker errand boy obama's change, "yes we can".
gol979 · 46-50, M
@BohoBabe no they didnt. They voted for the same reason......a change of system. Nothing to do with spite. Regardless of perceived differences (pushed by the powers that shouldnt be) we have much more in common. The faux left/right binary is set up and pushed hard to divide and conquer (amongst other things)

@gol979 I can sympathize with people who voted for Trump in 2016. I think a lot of them did want positive change and hoped it would come from a massive shake-up to the system. But then Trump became president and absolutely everything got worse. The only people who voted for Trump in 2020 and 2024 were miserable losers who thought that they'd feel less miserable if everyone else's life was made worse.
And if you think I'm being cynical, try to remember how Trump supporters defended voting for Trump back in 2016. They used to make arguments based in reality. After Trump became president, they totally abandoned reality and just became a cult.

@gol979 in 2016 - yes. The trump voters after that are motivated by spite. Surveys confirm this.

I don’t mean to be argumentative, but I don’t think MAGAs have a single primary motivation.

For some it’s greed…others bigotry…others pure evil…some ignorance

No doubt other motivations for many. Some aren’t even angry…just confused. Some are too trusting…of the wrong influencers.

That’s why it’s spread so far—they prey upon the weak, the challenged, the ill informed…

I am watching the replies on both sides here. Basically it falls into "My side is right, your side is wrong" Which tells me the plan is still working. No one sees the man behind the curtain yet. Whether the saying is as simple as "Yes we can"." America first" or Make America Great again". There isnt a single word about how to accomplish anything positive, or even stop the rot. All these are good slogans. Although America first is too close to "Deutschland Uber Alles" for my liking.
The unpleasant truth is that both major parties draw funding from the same pool of the rich and rely on corporate media to get the message out and at times ignore the unpleasant facts. America is based on the profit motive. Its not capitalism when the corporates are bailed out and big business dictates policy and is protected by the government. But America got away with it when there was not a genuine competitor. Now there is.. And that competitor is China. And they are doing it better. They have to. Not because of America. but because India is snapping at their heals.
If this were a genuine race for world leadership, America wouldnt have a chance of coming second. Because both China and India have the numbers and the will to provide the environment to build a middle class and keep the corporate greed in check.. Americas slogans mean nothing. America isnt first.. The Rich are first. America wont be great again. And the drugs, reality TV and the consumer culture all say. "Why should we bother?" Not "Yes we can".
And if my country was nearly $40 Trillion in debt with no way to pay it back,I might just feel the same😷

@whowasthatmaskedman excellent reply.

Right/left politics and all the useless propaganda that goes with it disgust me, so answering this question is like taking a little bit of poison to build an immunity.

First, let's get real. The hard core fanatics that form the so-called "base" of this particular group have never been more than 52% of the Republican party - and right now Republicans comprise less than 28% of all US voters. The real majority in American politics are those who identify as independents & moderates - 43% and growing. And don't fall for that crap that independents actually "lean" toward one party or another. That illusion grows out of the fact that both parties run closed primaries in most states, and either shut out independents or force them to register a party affiliation in order to even get a ballot.

So what actually burns up most of the time and money in American politics is stoking the jacked-up partisan machinery that creates the weak appearance of being in a majority, or having even a slight claim to moral authority. And in online platforms like this one, that con game is run by every troll with 3 or more alt accounts and countless bots posing as genuine people to feed the echo chamber.

That's not to say there aren't a few real people here and on other sites who post up their radical political beliefs & arguments for anyone who actually gives a damn. But it doesn't take a lot of effort to see that many of those people work off scripts that are fed to them, and that they use politics as a distraction from their own troubled lives, or in some cases as camouflage for full blown personality disorders.

So, based on the evidence over 10 years it's clear MAGA is by almost every standard a cult - not a real politcal movement. And their agenda of using the whole weight of government to advance phony grievances and seek revenge on anyone not in their camp isn't "conservative" - it's paranoid extremism. The damage being done by this pack of losers can be seen everywhere, and what motivates them in every public forum they infest is using all their energy to deny the facts and shift blame.

Yeah, it's all bullshit. And it always has been.

But that doesn't earn Dems or libs a pass on their own breathtakingly stupid assumptions about who Americans are, what we need, and how to build & maintain a country that really works for more than a special few.

So when you ask "... can we all finally agree ... ?", I want to know who you mean, and what you think comes next. If this is just more partisan junk I think I'll pass.

I truly hope you can all find something positive to agree on.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
@FreddieUK I think you can I can be positively glad we are not in America. As rough as the stormy seas of 2026 will be, living in America is more likely to be like being a frog in a blender..😷
@whowasthatmaskedman …not so much a blender as a boiling pot!
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
The one thing we can agree on is that Americans cant agree on anything..They are as individual as it gets. And the culture of society is to compete to be number 1 at something...Anything to feel like a winner..And whole industries from cosmetics to fashion and life coaching are based on this need. The focus on individual success has blinded America to the success as a nation that won WW2 and got America to the moon. Now it sits paralysed in a swamp of self indulgence and consumerism based on borrowed money and false gods on reality TV..😷
FreddieUK · 70-79, M
@whowasthatmaskedman And anyone who wants in any way to modify this in the tiniest way is an 'extreme leftist, marxist, anarchist' even though all those words mean different things.
AthrillatheHunt · 51-55, M
I’d give it about a 33% chance “payback “ is the motivation. I also give Israel a 33% chance they are engaging in payback as well.
BohoBabe · M
I think I saw that survey. They said one of the most important things they look for in a candidate is "Makes Liberals angry." Legit brain worms.
AthrillatheHunt · 51-55, M
@BohoBabe own the libs. Nothing else matters

@AuRevoir the left was not calling everyone racist, sexist, phobes, etc. only those that demonstrated conclusively that they were.
