The reason you are a leftist is because you were taught to be one in school.
SatanBurger · 36-40, F
@hippyjoe1955 what classes and how do they teach you in which makes you leftist? I'm curious.
dancingtongue · 80-89, M
@hippyjoe1955 Then how did so many of my classmates and friends become conservatives when we had the same teachers? Perhaps because we were taught to think for ourselves, and exposed to a full range of ideas and philosophies?
hippyjoe1955 · 70-79, M
@dancingtongue They can think. Leftists just absorb what they were told.
hippyjoe1955 · 70-79, M
@SatanBurger I am more familiar with the Canadian school system so let me begin with science class, English class, Social Studies class. Literature Class, In grade school U Thant was a hero among heroes. You may have to look him up.
MoveAlong · 70-79, M
@hippyjoe1955 Do you still believe in QAnon?
hippyjoe1955 · 70-79, M
@MoveAlong No idea who Q Anon is. Care to enlighten me?
MoveAlong · 70-79, M
@hippyjoe1955 And you're so smart. 🤣
hippyjoe1955 · 70-79, M
@MoveAlong And you are not so smart. So about Qanon what do you think of him/her/it?
markinkansas · 61-69, M
@MoveAlong where goes one we all go
hippyjoe1955 · 70-79, M
@markinkansas Sounds like leftism to me. Herd mentality is a leftist trait I have noticed. Or as one old wag opined. When everyone thinks the same no one is thinking at all.
MoveAlong · 70-79, M
@hippyjoe1955 Speaking of herd mentality do you still believe in QAnon?
markinkansas · 61-69, M
@hippyjoe1955 that was a Qanon quote however good try guessing
QAnon is a far-right American political conspiracy theory and political movement that originated in 2017
hippyjoe1955 · 70-79, M
@MoveAlong I never did believe in Qanon. Did you?
MoveAlong · 70-79, M
@hippyjoe1955 Do you think all their believers and followers are and were sheep?
hippyjoe1955 · 70-79, M
@markinkansas OK. Not sure how you define left or right so I will leave it at that. Personally I get so sad when those terms come up. I prefer freedom vs slavery myself. If you want to have an all powerful state running your life or if you want to look after your own affairs. I tend toward the freedom side myself. How about you?
hippyjoe1955 · 70-79, M
@MoveAlong I don't think anyone is a sheep. People have reason to believe what they believe. I was never into Qanon other than to look to see if there was any useful information there. Kind of like reading Marx or John Locke or Charles Darwin. Information is a good thing knowing what is false in that information is called wisdom.
MoveAlong · 70-79, M
@hippyjoe1955 Well you're the one who brought up herd mentality.
hippyjoe1955 · 70-79, M
@MoveAlong Leftism is a herd. If you believe in it for what ever reason you have a herd mentality. Your choice to have it.
markinkansas · 61-69, M
@hippyjoe1955 i study both sides.. as for what side i am on .. watch bernie sanders . [media=https://youtu.be/VgcA92TU4Cs]

@markinkansas Yeah Canada has a health care human right unless the government runs out of cash and you have to wait until the new budget gets approved. I have told the story of my wife and the excellent care she received as she went through cancer. My cousin in law was diagnosed with almost identical cancer and died on the waiting list. The fact is that healthcare is wildly over priced thanks to government and private insurance.

So reading books and good grammar makes one a leftist good to know.
hippyjoe1955 · 70-79, M
@SatanBurger Its not the reading its controlling what is read. If all a young read in stories with a socialist slant said young person will likely end up with a socialist view of the world.
SatanBurger · 36-40, F
@hippyjoe1955 And what books in school have a socialist slant by which will make a person a socialist.
hippyjoe1955 · 70-79, M
@SatanBurger Do you read or are you just an idle speculator?
MoveAlong · 70-79, M
@hippyjoe1955 Joe you are so wrong again. I and all of my friends grew up in a religious family. We received all the teachings of Christianity. We studied at home We studied at Church. Our schools were religious. Even though it wasn't formally taught in school it permeated the entire system. Just because it was taught to me certainly doesn't mean I ended up with a Christian view of the world.
