Brown U kids who survived America's 389th mass shooting of 2025 will pay out of pocket for their treatment...

..because America guarantees guns but not healthcare.

Those who survived Australia's first deadly mass shooting in 29 years will not pay for their treatment as Australia guarantees healthcare over guns.

Also, within 24 hours, Albanese's government immediately moved to introduce even tighter gun laws.

Will you ever learn, America?

We learned in 1791 🙂

@justbob And millions of people have died needlessly as a result. Millions.

@justbob learned what?
justbob · 61-69, M
@luckranger71 The vital importance of the right to bear arms.

Did you ever notice how mass shootings always happen in "gun free" zones?
G7J2O · M
@justbob and your point is...?
justbob · 61-69, M
@G7J2O Obvious to any thinking being
G7J2O · M
@justbob Well what is obvious to any thinking being is that you are wrong. Not all mass shootings have occurred in gun-free zones.
Pherick · 41-45, M
@G7J2O He doesn't have one. He is one of those nutballs who equates what people were able to do in 1776 against soldiers with muskets and tries to compare that to modern day military and what people can own. Its an insane comparison and it also means he has never read any of the papers the founding fathers wrote about the 2nd amendment.
justbob · 61-69, M
@G7J2O Almost without exception they do.

The evil people who commit these crimes know they can get away with much more in places where nobody can shoot back. And no matter how strict gun laws are, people intent on such an action (surprise surprise) fail to follow the law. So the laws do literally nothing to keep people safe.

@justbob Here are ten that I compiled:

2022 Buffalo, New York – Tops Supermarket
A racially motivated hate crime mass shooting at a supermarket (public retail space).

Outdoor Festival – Oklahoma (2022)
A mass shooting at an outdoor public event/festival — a setting where public carry isn’t automatically banned.

Gun Store – New Orleans (2021)
A shooting inside a gun store — clearly a place where firearms are present/allowed.

Ned Peppers Bar – Dayton, Ohio (2019)
A bar/nightclub attack where patrons could conceivably carry legally in Ohio (depending on context).

Walmart – El Paso, Texas (2019)
A mass shooting at a Walmart (general retail store in a state with broad carry laws).
Center for American Progress

Fort Hood Military Base – Texas (2009)
Shooting on a military base; while military personnel aren’t typically armed there, the location isn’t a civilian “gun-free zone” per civilian carry definitions.

2022 Bend, Oregon – Safeway Grocery Store
A workplace/grocery store shooting inside a public retail location.

2022 Greenwood Park Mall – Greenwood, Indiana
Mall mass shooting where a legally-armed civilian intervened and fatally shot the perpetrator.

2021 Collierville Kroger – Tennessee
Grocery store mass shooting in a public retail store (not a designated gun-free zone).

Crandon, Wisconsin Mass Murder (2007)
A party at a private residence/duplex — a private setting where guns aren’t legally banned

Well Americans must be fucked in the head then as a people, because mass shootings really only happen in America.

@DogMan Funny thing: nations with strict gun control have far fewer murders in general and far fewer school shootings. Do you think that's because those nations have much better mental health??

@DogMan
Why do we never talk about WHY people are shooting up schools? Because it is easier to blame
a gun that cannot hurt anyone without a crazy person loading it, pointing it, and pulling the trigger.

It is easier to regulate a lethal weapon than it is to feign a sudden interest in mental health and somehow eliminate "craziness". The latter approsch would also require extensive government investment in something resembling a universal healthcare system, which I suspect you would not approve of either.
